The Wii has a 512 MB flash memory, not a harddrive.

WHAT? that's almost nothing even cd-roms have more bytes than that i thought it had at least 1gb or maybe 2.

Yes, but you can buy up to a 32GB SD card for all your downloadable-game-putting-onto needs.

Flash memory is smaller and more flexible than CDs, but costs much more. Nintendo wanted to cut costs to the bare minimum, and thus went with a small flash memory. They also wanted to keep the form factor for the system as small as possible, eliminating the possibility of adding a bulky harddrive to the system.
