D&D players?

I used to play D&D... I started with buying the "basic game" box and me and my friends completed that. But what next? If there are any D&D players out there can you reply or maybe give me your MSN? Thanks in advance...

re: D&D players?

Hmm, these boards really never took off huh? And it's cool seeing people from the monster hunter boards.

Anyhow, I think I played Pen and Paper back when I was about 10 or so, like 2 or 3 games. I never did get to play table top again after that, but I kept up with D&D in a way after getting Baldur's Gate, then NWN, and finally DDO.

I really want to get back into table top, but no one I know is into D&D like me, and it's getting revised for 4.0 anyhow, so I might as well wait.

You guys just played the stuff that comes with the basic rules and stuff right? There's a bunch of add ons you can get, that have typically new classes and feats, and other stuff as well.

re: D&D players?

I just want to know where to kick off after the basic game. But also i would like to create my own character despite I am always left to DM for my friends if we ever play (rarely) V4.0 will be great for people who dont have friends into the game and i hope there is a section of this site for DDv4

re: D&D players?

Well, what's the basic? I haven't even played any recently, so I'm outta the loop on some of this.

If it's just what comes with the package, why not try creating your own campaign? With custom maps and NPCs to really challenge your friends.

And to solve you wanting to play, you could try holding multiple campaigns each time you play, and give a certain amount of time for each game, course, one of your friends would have to know how to DM.

And if it's just basic, that means you haven't hit real high levels right? There's always the epic levels for after level 20 and stuff.

re: D&D players?

Thank man. But i don't think i will go and buy the D&D materials if D&Dv.4 is around the corner. Let's see if D&D tactics can satisfy my needs

Eh, Neverwinter Nights is realtime, it's just not D&D enough for me anymore lol. Some of the games are getting better, but their all non-online, like Temple of Elemental Evil and D&D Tactics :x

re: D&D players?

There's so many things that aren't like pen and paper thoough, like tumble giving a bonus to AC >.>

I just don't like it anymore, you can't keep the orginal rules and change the ones you want without there being balance problems.

re: D&D players?

meh some of the stuff is good but some of it makes no sense what so ever. like vorpal only dealing 1 con damage on a crit instead of slaying instantly, which is what i like about pen and paper

re: D&D players?

i prefer tabletop because you can see exactly what is happening. I think i have attempted pen n' paper once before but it got a little boring.

Realtime made improved initiative worthless, a +4 bonus to initiative won't do crap in real time.

Aren't tabletop and P&P the same thing? It's been years since I've played the actual game though.

i do belive that tabletop and P&P are the same thing its just with table top you have figures so you get to see what the foes and you charicters my look like

and the one thing i hate my dm the most is in neverwinter knights there are things called and i quote "Halfling Dragons of Doom" and he made stats for them.... ya i hate him for that reason cause they killed my charicter
