I'd say that 3 is without doubt better than 4.

I purchased the DMC pack including 1,2, & 3. I really loved the graphics and the sick intense action. However, this game will make you "Cry", the controls are sick and it actually takes energy, and I mean a ton of energy to defeat something.
I quickly got sick of the 1st one I tried out, did not pay attention to the 2nd & 3rd and quickly sold the package out of that fact. This is why I do not have DMC4 currently right now, just not interested in it.

Well... i did not played DMC4, but I finished DMC3 a lot of times..
So, i think that, if you can, you have to try DMC4, because i think that it's better of DMC3(I watched some videos... and they are great.

Yeah, I noticed that. I beat DMC4 like twice or three times, while I beat DMC3 on all difficulties except DMD mode. So yeah, I ended up playing DMC3 more.
And to asnwer your question. She's not his mother. At least it doesn't say in the game. But we might find out in the next one.

Devil May Cry 3. It's just so much better than DMC4.
Better devil arms, you can't go wrong there. -------------------

One of the few things I like better in 4 is how fast you can switch styles.

Well DMC 4 has a few things that DMC 3 didn't have like the Devil Bringer and the active style change. But in gameplay and in moves as well as weapon selection and just a game over all, DMC 3 is still far more superior that 4 will ever be.

I find DMC4 to be better than DMC3 (not much), story is more focus, more and new characters, bigger environment with outstanding music, better and cooler enemies, faster, more freeform, and interactive gameplay, better cutscenes and VOs, a bit better atmosphere. DMC3 has more weapon capability and extra, but I has fun with long range weapon in DMC4, and the extras are just costumes.

quote Shattered SilenceAgreed. It has the backstory, important to the series. 4...well I don't know much about the story, hell a lot of people don't. -------------------

The story for DMC 4 is pretty much the same boy saves the damsel in distress story line that was done to death in previous game. I don't see how it's more focused than the other previous DMC games which pretty had the same amount of focus on story as it did for DMC 4. More and new characters aren't necessarily better in my eyes because for the most part, the "new characters" are pretty much the same stock characters you find in other action adventure games. Betrayed Holy man that wants to fuse his body with something called "The Savior?" because he wants to "Cleanse" a city? Nothing new there. Better and cooler enemies, they're pretty much the same enemies you would find in previous DMC games. They are pretty cool I gotta say but no cooler than the bosses you fought in the previous games. Personally I though three had the best Bosses. Faster, not in my eyes, as far freedom is concerned, I thought this game LACKED freedom seeing as how you had to purchase some moves that came with previous games like the running ability. The cut scenes are obviously better in this game seeing as how it's a next gen game however for the most part it's just a cosmetic difference. VO's
ugh don't even get me started on the bad voice acting in this game. It had a bigger atmosphere I'll definitely say that. But the long range capability of Nero's arm is limited and that was something I don't forgive especially If this guy is going to be our new Hero in the game, I expect a little more out of the Devil Bringer than just snatching and slamming your enemies.

DMC3 is the best. Still, I had more fun with DMC4 - despite being worse - than with DMC3. It's just that this time I had lots of fun with the leaderboards. Seriously. I've said this before and i say it again. I've had plenty of hours with DMC4 and I still have stuff to do...
Though, I do agree that DMC3 is better. The awkward control inputs of DMC4, the crappy story, the role of Dante, the outrageous backtracking and much more make DMC4 inferior to DMC3. quote StormUnderstanding the story as a whole is indeed amazing :/ It took me awhile to understand it. Meh... I actually think I didn't understand it at all, lol. Other thing is that Dante was a complete let down. They *bleep*ed up Wall Run, Free Ride, Wild Stomp ( though I didn't use it often ), and all of his weapons. I mean, I got really disappointed with Lucifer. I was actually looking forward to it. It actually looked awesome, but it was not what I expected =/ Its formations were bullshit and it's a shame i thought it'd be something like Vergil's summoned swords. Then they replace Dante by Nero. I wouldn't really mind if it didn't affect the story as it did. Nero is no big deal. He has Devil Bringer that only has Snatch as a good move. Besides all that Nero has could have been of Dante as well. DB as a style, Red Queen as a weapon. Funny thing is that I hear people saying that even Vergil has more depth than Nero and back then there were people complaining Dante had much more depth than Vergil in DMC3. What I'm saying is that Capcom didn't move forward. They moved Backward instead. DMC4 is still a terrific game. It's not what it should be, though. They changed the series' direction. In the end, I'm still waiting for a Mundus return, with an epic battle between him and Dante. We don't need ugly scientists, brothers of opera singers, and ridiculous twists ( yes I'm talking about the Trish-Gloria thing ). We only need unique gameplay and go on with the story of Sparda's legacy, whether it's with Dante, or Vergil. ------------------- ![]()

I know the general story of DMC4, BloodyDove, but the backstory is major crap. It's just a damsel in distress story, with some new faces who are very mysterious, and not in a good way. There were many plotholes in DMC4 to me.
