Ranking System |
|
One of the decisions that I really disapprove of in this game is that you can't progress further than the Dan titles by playing offline. Maybe I'm making a big fuss for nothing, but the ranking system was what really kept me going in Tekken 5 (along with the customization). So it was kind of a blow to me when I found out that you have to defeat people in ranked online matches in order to rank up.
Thoughts on this? ------------------- Who Cares really? I mean, in the end it's all just politics. Friends helping friends, it's the same people who rise up again.

I am exactly the same as you McClubbin. In the weeks leading up to Tekken 6 i was just playing Tekken 5 Arcade Battle trying to level up and i found it was one of the best parts of the game. I hate that you cant get past 1st dan offline now, although beating the lesser ranks certainly boosts your win percentage. How tame does the Tekken 5 customization look now? Its weird, at the time i thought it was brilliant, its nothing compared to 6's options though.

Yeah, it's pretty stupid if you ask me. ;_; Especially because I rarely play online and all.
I wish Namco didn't change Tekken so much. I mean, it would've been nice if you could rank up by playing both online and offline. ------------------- ![]()

re: Ranking System |
quote itMFtisYeah, I understand that and it makes sense given that Tekken already had a ranking system which could be implemented online. But what I'm miffed about is that in this case it really takes away a huge chunk from the offline experience, specially for those who don't play online much. ------------------- Who Cares really? It was nice while it lasted in T5, but really it was a false representation of how good you really are compared to other people. There are many of tricks to repeatedly beat the AI in arcade mode.
There are many other things I'd like to see return from T5 like 2nd player customizations and especially saving the 2nd player's controller input preferences >_<

Maybe it's just a way of them encouraging people to play online and help them become more skilled. It doesn't bother me too much, but it still would be nice achieving the highest ranking just by playing offline matches.

I don't mind, but I can see people with suck connections. ------------------- ![]()

Yeah, Tekken Lord is the highest. It was a fun feature in Tekken 5, got about 5 characters to that status, great use of replayability too. Not a big online player, barely "try" against others, so yeah...sucks to hear that I can't get Tekken Lord offline.

I'm not playing ranked matches untill they fix the online mode. SO, for now, I'll stay 1st Dan. :p
Denieru - Sorry, but I have no idea. It's probably changed from TK5: DR. ------------------- ![]()

Nah, it's still Tekken Lord. I checked it on the Leaderboards the other day.
Yeah, that's pretty much exactly the way I feel, Storm. I don't mind regular player matches but I hate the competitiveness of ranked matches because I mess up due to the pressure or I'm just not skilled enough to really care about them. I'm honestly more of a casual guy when it comes to fighting games and that's why I'm a bit ticked off by this. ------------------- Who Cares really? I mean, in the end it's all just politics. biggest downfall of this game in my opinion why would namco do that especially considering online is way to laggy to get anywhere on they should give us a update that lets us go all the way to divine fist even if they have it seperate from online rank sucks even more for people without internet

Also, even with some people that have internet, they only have dial-up and they can't play online with that either. I mean, I personally had dial-up until late 2007. I guess Namco didn't realize this for some reason.

Well, I guess they naturally assumed that most people have cable/DSL in this age. I don't think it's even possible to play anything online with dial-up.
