The Tekken 6 PSP Mystery |
|
Okay so we have seen and experienced the console versions of Tekken 6. It wasn't groundbreaking but not a dissapointment either. But what about the portable version? The version you could play in the palm of your hands anywhere anytime? Not many facts are known for this version but here they are.
The Confirmed Facts: 1. The portable version will mostly be similar to that of the consoles in terms of characters, stages, and gameplay. 2. Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada confirmed in an interview that there will be NO Scenario Campaign for the PSP . Yes you read that right NO Scenario Campaign! But if there is no scenario campaign how would the story mode be potrayed? 3. This one's a no brainer. The graphics wouldn't be as good as the consoles, but Harada did say in an interview that it would be a bit better than the graphics of Dark Resurrection PSP with smoother framerates and running 60 frames per second. 4. The gameplay and controls would be similar to the consoles apart from the fact of having no trigger buttons (by gameplay I mean of the offline mode) 5. There will be an online mode, but you could only play with other PSP Tekken 6 gamers around the world. How it would perform, if it will have lag or not is still unkown. 6. Tekken 6 is confirmed to release as both online for PSP GO as well in UMD format. The UnConfirmed Facts: 1. A lot of sources like 1up, Gamepro, and Official Playstation Magazine state the Tekken 6 PSP will have extra content that the consoles don't have and is supposedly the final definitive version to get. 2. Just what are the extra contents? More playable charatcers? More Arenas? More Items for Customizations? More special modes? 3. I don't see how there would be extra charatcers. You got 6 new charatcer into the roster already. Why need more? Perhaps returning characters from previous Tekkens like Jun Kazama, Kunimitsu, Michelle Chang, Forrest Law, Alex, Miharu Keanu, Prototype Jack, Devil Kazuya, Combot, Ogre and Dr Boskonovich? 4. I don't know if they would shove in more arenas but I could see them making day/night alternative versions of their current arenas 5. It is most likely that they'd bring in more customizable items for each character and perhaps make their 3rd costumes customizable. Perhaps bring in more extra costumes for characters who don't have a 3rd costume? 6. There is also the question of the special modes as well. Tekken 5 had Devil Within, Galaga and Arcade Versions of Tekken 1,2, and 3. While Dark Ressurection had Tekken Bowl and Command Attack. Perhaps we might see another Tekken bowl or ball or the classic Tekken 3 style of Tekken Force mode? It would be an amazing feat to fit it all in a UMD but it is highly unlikely. 4. As I mentioned before there is NO scenario campaign. So it is most likely that we may get to play the story mode just like we did in the previoius Tekkens with 8 to 10 stages of random fighters including two or three story based ones and with small ingame cutscenes shoved in. Well there you have it. I wrote all these facts from the Tekken 6 interviews I have seen as well all the Tekken 6 previews I have read in game magazines such as EGM, Gamepro, and Official Playstation Magazine. If I am missing any important information or you think that there is somehow a mistake or a flaw in the facts please let me know and all the Tekken fans who are reading this post know. This isn't a spoiler, so it's all what I have seen, read, and heard. I've got my fingers crosses but I expect to have a great time playing the game!

There was some more information on the PSP build recently about Lars and Alisa's backstory. The article can be found here.

No Scenario Campaign mode? In that case, I would assume the story mode would be the same as the one in Tekken 5, where you just do traditional fighting and eventually reach the final boss.
As for extra content, I'm hoping for a new playable character or two and the return of Tekken Dojo and Gold Rush modes ------------------- ![]()
