	do you get to play as the girl at all? or do you have to be in the samus suit throughout the whole game? -------------------

	Well, she is a girl, but no, you never get to play as her without the power suit. I believe the only Metroid game that allowed you to actually play as Samus without the suit is Metroid: Zero Mission. Other than Zero Mission, you usually only see her once or twice in each game, and only for a few seconds each. There are some very Metroid-ish levels in the Subspace Emissary in Brawl, and you are able to use Zero Suit Samus there. That's about as close as you can get (besides Zero Mission) right now.
