So the idea here is something similar to the popcorn story thread except with a bit more of a serious twist. We each take turns adding a fragment developing a story based on the metroid universe. Unlike the popcorn thread however the material in here should be a bit less on the silly side. Who knows we might get lucky and have a good fan fic going. I'll start


Drifting through the vastness of space in her custom built ship, Samus let out a sigh. Things had been slow for her lately. The officials at the Galactic Federation had been oddly quiet. The ship had received no transmissions or scanned any pirate activity for nearly 3 months. Samus was a woman of action. She didnt like sitting around with nothing to do but train. Besides she had bills to pay. It wasn't cheap fueling her ship and keeping herself fed. She decided she would take another scanning sweep of this system. Out of the corner of her eye she saw something flashing on her console. When she turned to it she discovered....

a small bit of phazon in her ship. She thought, "how did it get there?" Then she heard a noise.... She then saw a creature in the ship...she barely saw it.... it was a......

Not the right place for this. Oh and by the way Morbide, this was a great idea. Finally more of a serious twist.

And then saw a a shadow...slowly moving toward her. The ship was poorly lit to conserve energy. Rasping and gurgling sounds could be heard from the shadows.
Samus locked and loaded her laser gun, preparing for the heat of combat as she had done a thousand times before. She quickly jumped behind her cockpit chair hoping to catch the creature by surprise. She took a quick peak from where the gurgling sounds were coming from.
From shadows emerged a figure..around 7 feet tall. It was barely humanoid..deforimed and twisted, it's legs were severly bent to right and it had three arms. The creatures limbs made a starnge crackling sound as it advanced. It was also..leaving a hot steaming trail of ooze as it advanced toward Samus's position. No more details of this creature could be made out from where Samus was watching. She had maybe five seconds before the creature was upon her.

I made it up on the spot. This thread should be good.

Samus rolled into her morph ball and boosted across the deck. She sprung up and shot her arm cannon damaging the evironmental control computer for the ship. The lights flickered then shut off plunging the ship into darkness. The cold from space began to seep into the ship, Samus' breath forming frost in the air. A sickly purple glow emenated from the creature which had stopped trying to get it's bearings again. It seemed to center upon Samus and began to lurch towards her in it's odd gait, apparently unhindered by the darkness.

The ABC game was taken out because it was pointless. This fragment story has some actual meaningful things in it. Anyway, onto the story.

Samus, surprised at how the creature had not reacted..quickly assessed the situation. It may be far too dangerous to start a fight inside her space ship. The combat could possibly damage her ship but she had to risk it.
"This battle's gonna get ugly, no matter which way I look at it," she thought to herself. She cooly switched on her infra-red vision and activated her auxillary air supply.
The creature could be seen as a yellowish blob..it seemed to be emenating very quite a lot of heat..making it harder for Samus to take the shot. She charged her beam cannon and aimed quarely at the creatures chest.
The laser made a sharp crackle as she pulled the trigger. The creature screeched in pain as the hot plasma tore through it's torso. The creature fell to the ground...moaning in pain. Samus briskly strode over to the main computer and reactivated the lights. The interior of the space shit was spattered hot sticky ourple gore. The creature was on the floor..bathed in it's own pool of sickly fluid..barely moving. What was she to do?

then she noticed the slime and scanned it. It was phazon. She then figured the creature was mutated. She scanned it and it really was a...
(this is gettin good!)

...Galactic Federation scientist. Or at least it used to be. The creature released the air from its lungs in a wet gurgle. It reached out grabbing her ankle. Samus brought her arm cannon around and aimed directly at the creatures head.

"Better to put it out of it's missery", she thought, "after all it was human once".

Samus began charging her weapon when the creature gurgled two words.

"Seed....Infestation"

Samus paused unsure that she had actually heard anything. The creature opened its mouth wide and with it's last bit of energy spit a large glob of mucus at Samus' chest. Samus fired the weapon completely oblittering the creatures head. Bits of bone and brain matter were sprayed all over the ship. Samus sighed and went to get the mop. If she had looked down she would have seen the mucus on her chest quiver then melt into her suit.

although thats not how the suit got corrupted and she doesnt wear the suit on the ship, who cares this is good

a little while later, samus scans a bit the spattered mutant scientist's flesh and scans for where its origins could have been.
*ship's comp* scans conclusive. flesh contains traces of mutated human dna. origins, galactic federation hq.
samus immediately pilots her ship to the galactic federation hq and finds...

Samus "scans" the bit of splattered etc...? Can we please keep this in the past tense? Otherwise it will get confusing and look sloppy. I shall post another "fragment" a bit later.
