On the other hand turning it too fast presents new problems.

True, but a bit more speed would be nice. I'm sure Retro wouldn't overdo the speed. Right now their 'underdoing' it a bit.

Something they're trying to fix, I believe.
So what, in your opinion, are the best Metroid games? Actually, scrap that, give me a list of your played Metroid games from favourite to least liked. -------------------

From favourite to least liked?
1. Metroid Prime. Just barely knocking Super Metroid into second place. Turning the Metroid series into 3D and not making it suck was truly a massive challenge, yet Retro managed to do it, thus earning a great deal of my respect. This game is like Super Metroid, except 3D. And not just 3D, but an FPS at that! It had to have been a massive challenge to make. Normally, I prefer sidescroller games to 3D ones, but Retro just did such a good job that I love this one. That plus I think it has the best control scheme for any FPS that I've ever played. 2. Super Metroid. The classic. The game that made me fall in love with Metroid. I really can't think of anyway to describe this game that would do it justice. We need more games like this. 3. Metroid Zero Mission. I don't think there's any Metroid game I've played more. It was so reminiscent of Super Metroid, with a proper amount of challenge to it. It was just a little too short. And had waaaaaay too many different ending screens to get. 4. Metroid Prime 2. It was a great game and all, but it just didn't compare to the original. Too many enemies were recycled, and too many areas looked too bland for my tastes. On the plus side, it has the single most beautiful Metroid area I've ever seen. Sanctuary left me breathless the first time I saw it. Now if only you had actually gotten to wander around the city you could see so far away. 5. Metroid Fusion. I was glad to see Metroid come back with this game, but I pray this isn't the last new sidescroller we see. It was a decent game, but compared to gold like Super Metroid and Zero Mission, it just doesn't hold up. Too linear, the Fusion suit looks too lame, and Adam won't quit pissing me off. 6. Metroid Prime Pinball. When I first heard of this game, I thought, Metroid Pinball? Damn that's so stupid. Then I actually played it. It looks beautiful, is incredibly addictive and fun, and does a surprisingly good job of faithfully converting Metroid Prime into a pinball machine. 7. Metroid Prime: Hunters. On it's own merits, this was an alright game. A solid DS game that was quite fun to play. Also functions as a taste of what the Wii control scheme will be like I think, and I would recommend this game to anyone with a DS. That's just taken on it's own merits though. As a Metroid series game, I thought Hunters was God-Awful and should have never been a part of the Metroid series. 8. Metroid. Good God I hate this game. I can't believe that this game that I hate so much is how one of my two favourite video game series started. It's ridiculously difficult, I die every ten seconds, everything looks the same, and I'm always getting lost. This is like if you took Super Metroid or Metroid Zero Mission, and then just removed everything that was good about them. I've played every Metroid game now except for 2. Damn I wish I could find that game. ------------------- quote ![]()

Metroid is a good game. It's pretty much the same as Metroid Zero Mission, besides.

exept for the not having any idea where your going, the not having enough health, the amount of damage you take, and the difficulty.

Everytime I see one of those speedrunners who complete the original in less 30 minutes I think to myself " how are they able to do those kinda things". To go through the game, beat Motherbrain with 4 energy tanks, escaping with 1 point of health, and to beat the game in that kind of time is amazing.

Metroid was pretty poor but in it's time it was most likely a very decent game. It's just that you guys are so used to playing those games in which the "computer" holds your hand through it and gives you "maps" and lots of "life".
