re: SOS Brigade presents: "Class with CM! Lesson #2 up!" |
quote koreanstriker93That's true, you have to use different mindgames on different people...but thats where reading the opponent kicks in. And I got DI down for the most part...but teching for some reason I have trouble with. And yeah, I agree about Brawl being more mental. I've played a lot of people and only a few of them I can say have played smart...I mean, they either are too impatient or aren't playing safe...as for those who are smart, those are the matches I like. Cause I'm a very safe player...so impatience and risk taking will get you killed against me. ------------------- Look at Yami Bakura's hair.

Yeah, mindgames always keep the game interesting and you have to try new and different stuff against different people, just play smart...also make sure you got momentum stopping and sdi down too, it's not just di =p One of the problems I have with brawl is that though it's very mental, a lot of times being good translates into a lot of camping and now being able to play aggressive which can get annoying...and camping/campers aren't fun =p But you do need to remain patient, don't let their mindgames get to you, and don't lose your strategy because your winning/losing...just try some new mindgames and do some different stuff, don't get too aggro because you're losing or start sandbagging because you're winning.

re: SOS Brigade presents: "Class with CM! Lesson #2 up!" |
quote koreanstriker93Oh yeah, I got momentum breaking down...and SDI I kinda got...and I've been told I have great spacing with my character...that's not exactly camping, just being super safe...but I've been called out for playing like that...and called gay and spammer because of it...but it doesn't bother me, cause I won, and the move I use is clearly a staple for anyone who uses my main. As for remaining calm, I almost always am. I do tend to get nervous though, but that doesn't make me aggressive, it makes me play extra safe. And I also never sandbag...its offensive tbh. ------------------- Look at Yami Bakura's hair.

re: SOS Brigade presents: "Class with CM! Lesson #2 up!" |
quote Persona MCYeah, finding out which moves come out fast, have little lag, etc help a lot with momentum...sdi is just practice like di, you'll get it eventually =p Having good spacing is really good, spacing is really important in all of the smash games, lol. Spacing is one of the most important things in smash, if you have your spacing down, you should be able to win a good amount of your matches. Yeah, methods don't matter as long as you win, planking, camping, etc. but i prefer only doing that in tourney sometimes or more serious friendlies =p Some more friendly friendlies I like to have fun and just mess around xD It's good to remain calm, having the right mindset is always good and will help you win matches, don't get nervous based on who you're playing, stay confident. Yeah, some people find sandbagging offensive but I still do it sometimes, and still win =p Depends on who I'm facing really. Though a lot of times, sandbagging is the reason a lot of people don't see improvement in their play. Edit: Almost 2:45 where I live, I'll keep posting tomorrow...or today? =/ Fun talking to you =p @PoS: You post too slow xD ------------------- ![]() ~Thanks Sandstone for the Sig~ Brawl FC: 1203-8989-6280 Tag: LWOR

Oh! I hate when people do that! They like put pros on a pedastal. I never do that and I told them, "they're just players with lots of experience". Most of them lol'ed at me, I just was like, whatever. That's why they'll choke and I won't.

re: SOS Brigade presents: "Class with CM! Lesson #2 up!" |
quote koreanstriker93Only reason I'd reccomend sticking with a character that gets you nowhere is either A)(my case) You've put too much time into the character, and you just can't play anybody else proficiently, B) You enjoy the character, or C) You just don't mind losing. From the outside looking in your case looked to me like B. But if you enjoy playing Snake just as equally more power to you, I'm not in control of who you should main or not lols. I just don't like seeing people drop characters they enjoy just to win, y'know? Or seeing people play just to win. It's kinda irked me a little in the community. I've experienced one case, and from that point on I really do try and convince said person to not play just for winning. Smash isn't really the best game for that. I didn't mean every character had a crippling matchup with MK, sorry if it came out that way. But every character does have one matchup that absolutely wrecks them, some worse than others(lolFox). You are right about the Marth main thing. That bulk of Marth mains is slowly dwindling down. From my perspective, it's sorta cool, cause I don't have to worry so much about the matchup anymore, on the other side of things Olimar's rising up in popularity, MK's already popular, same with Snake, so it's relaxing for me not to have to worry about Marth, but it is kinda hard sticking with a character without much of a community to it, and I'll give you that 'Marth doesn't win much tournaments' point, cause it is true. Nah, I don't really think Marth-MK is more possible than it really is, but I'm more open minded about it because, I haven't really experienced it much myself. I would've played some good MK's by now but... blegh. it's so weird telling people that the monthlies you go to, MK is banned. Lol good stuff on your Marth 2-stocking Lobos. tbh, I don't really know where I stack at all compared to all the other Toon Links. For all I know I could still suck, or be even better than Lobos. Who knows. This message was edited by Power of Slash on Jun 25 2009. -------------------

quote Persona MCLols, it's true and false, honestly, my first tourney I play with Chu and Azen and I was mad nervous, now that I know them more and am friends with Chu, it's more relaxing and fun =p It's a lot harder to be calm against the pros at first imo but after a few tourneys, you get used to it and stop caring as much xD Though you still hate playing them in tourney because they're good, lolz. They're mad fun to play with though and usually bring out the best in me =p I'll read it tomorrow PoS, too tired =/ Good night peoples ------------------- ![]() ~Thanks Sandstone for the Sig~ Brawl FC: 1203-8989-6280 Tag: LWOR

True true, maybe I just wasn't very nervous cause I played a pro over wifi. And it's definitely good fun, you know you have to be on your toes...literally, no tripping or your dead

I still don't get how being nervous could be a bad thing.
When I get nervous, I get hyped, and when I get hyped I usually play my best. This always happens when I don't know what to expect from a person that's known to be really good, or I haven't played that person in a long while, and know they've improved. -------------------

quote Power of SlashI agree with you on this. I love getting excited, and when I'm nervous, it just means that I'm extra excited. And I read your previous post, I don't like people who are too obsessed with winning. I mean, I really love to win, but I will only do it with the characters I like. Using a great character doesn't make me feel satisfied as I do when I use someone of lower status. I feel like the character did all the work for me. That's just how I am. ------------------- Look at Yami Bakura's hair.

It's understandable. People have their standards.
but then again, it's not right for me to criticize somebody who just wants to win. It's a double edged sword, and really considering their perspective... I can't really blame them. I will say this though. Blaming wins on a character is stupid. imo atleast. Unless it's a blatant disadvantaged matchup(such as CPing D3 on a DK, or going Pikachu/Sheik vs. a Fox that just beat you), it doesn't matter. The fact is you were outplayed by the other person, suck it up, learn the matchup, and get back out there and win or else you'll just end up embarrassing yourself =/ It's cool that people get passionate about winning, but to rage when you lose is not cool. Wifi, that's rageable cause it's Wifi. But there's no reason to lose your cool at a tournament, A) You end up leaving a bad impression on what's such a cool community, B) You'll continue to lose anyways, nobody's going to feel sorry for you. You can be disappointed in yourself but don't be so caught up into it, you rise out of your seat, start throwing your controller, start yelling(probably filled with profanity), and overall make an ass of yourself. Just take the loss. Just Take The Loss. -------------------

re: SOS Brigade presents: "Class with CM! Lesson #2 up!" |
quote Power of SlashYeah, I agree with most of that...although you are a little more open minded than I am when it comes to understanding people who want to "win at all costs". But yeah, blaming a character is stupid to me, my worst matchup is a 30-70 and I still manage to pull out wins against him. I do feel for characters like Ganon or CF who have no choice but to risk getting owned by IC. Such unfavorable matchups make me feel bad for those people. They have my sympathy. I will admit, I've lost over wifi and raged...about twice over my year of online brawling...but thats when I was in my scrubs. I'm more refined now so I just chalk it off to experience and knowledge when my opponent wins. Losing your cool at a tourney though...that must be quite embarrassing I imagine. I could imagine seeing everyone's eyes full of disgust. Just be nice and keep it to yourself...thats what I would do. ------------------- Look at Yami Bakura's hair.

quote Persona MCOnly twice?! what?! maaaaaaan, idk how many times I've raged over wifi @_@, I'm trying. to stop that though. I was moreso referring to the lame response of "You only won cause you're using MK/Snake/D3/other "cheap" character" I mean I understand if it's your absolute worst matchup, and it's hard to overcome that, but seeing let's say... Falco vs. Snake being blamed on the player playing Snake kinda irks me. Not saying you can't think it in the back of your mind. You really can't push those thoughts out of your head, but you have to acknowledge the other players skill too. When you don't that just brings in more tension than needed =/ edit: yeah I'm gonna try to go and sleep this RockStar off. Seriously, I get up in like 3 hours @_@. Peace out, more discussion tommorow. I like discussions. -------------------

quote Power of SlashOh yeah? Maybe I'm just super calm about these things...except for those 2 times. Yeah, I see what you're referring to now. They can't get me with that john though. They hit me up with spamming/gay play johns. It's just whatever...I just space well...but I only have 1 good spacing move, so I guess it seems like I'm spamming...but they're just mad cause they couldn't break my defense. And lastly, I sometimes think things like that in the back of my mind...even if I know they are really skilled, some characters have more pros and less cons than others. So I feel I have to work harder to outperform them. But I never say it...cause that would just spark the flame...and I really don't want a bad rep...plus, its embarrassing cause everyone would watch. Ok, goodbye. ------------------- Look at Yami Bakura's hair.
