I think not all of the symbols mean characters, the animal crossing got a symbol and so did the DS stage, I think the Advance Wars AT will have a symbol when it's confirmed but that doesn't mean there will be characters in the game as well.

Maybe the DS symbol is just a symbol of handheld gaming, in which case, it could be Game and Watch's new symbol.
All the other symbols have been updated, mostly to include more pixels and more detail. However, maybe it was decided Game and Watch's symbol just sucked, and that he is a classic handheld player, and therefore should have the symbol of a handheld game. Now, additionally, we never said ONLY two more symbols. Damn, this is an annoying argument. We can have many more. Golden Sun Pikmin Balloon Fighter Megaman Bomberman I want all those, at least. -------------------

Roy was on the Fire Emblem only on Game boy, and he had the same symbol as Marth. Theres not a chance that the DS is Game and Watch's symbol. His symbol would have to be in the blank spot, where there can't be any others.

The DS could possibly be replacing the old GAW one. And there could still be an animal crossing character that will be playable. K.K.. They've had a stage and an item...

The DS icon isn't replacing the G&W as far as we know. The DS icon is number 21. There's still two missing and one were everyone believes to be G&W.

dont forget some more symbols can be after the DS symbol, we just know 2 are missing from 1-21.

I still don't think just because there is a symbol that means there will be a character, there won't be a DS man or Stylus guy in the game.
I think when the Advance Wars AT is confirmed they will have a symbol but that doesn't mean there will be a character from there series in the game. ------------------- | |

Advanced Wars won't have a symbol. Most assist trophies just have thae smash symbol, number 1.
