re: Is this game really a "10"? |

I agree that that GTA IV is definitely not a ten. Most sites that gave this game a ten did so not because they thought it was perfect but because they thought it would redefine future games, shape the next-generation, etc. Although it is a fun installment, it did none of that. I can't see it being more influential than GTA III.
This game is just like all the others except it looks much better, has faster loading times, and includes multiplayer. I don't think any of those things are that redefining. In other ways, it is actually takes a step back. Many weapons, vehicles, and features such as parachutes, planes (although it is too small to have planes), and character customization are gone. Even things from GTA III like car bombs (though you can get them from Packie) and the compactor are gone. You can't buy properties or go underwater anymore either. I, like many others, turned of the SIXAXIS controls. Plus, I miss the old way of entering cheats. The missions are much more repetitive. If there is a mission that's a bit creative, it usually involved finding someone through the cop computer or using your cell phone camera. That's interesting, but the other 98% of the time the target is always marked on your radar no matter where they are or what they look like. So really, I don't see how this game is a masterpiece that will redefine future games when it didn't accomplish much more than any of the previous installments except beautifying the location/characters and adding different outcomes. It's still a great game and very enjoyable, but I don't see anything that justifies giving it a score that high.

what sucks is your grammar, spelling and punctuation Dy.
Yes, bumping a cop and gaining a wanted level is annoying but what happens if you do the same in real life? Funnily enough they arrest you for wreckless driving, endangering lives and damaging government property. Sure you aren't read your rights while slammed on the car bonnet and cuffed but I would say that's realism for you. However it does make you think about your driving, I've hit cop cars many a time but I've noticed if you slow down and "tap" them then they do nothing. It is only a full on collision where you cause damage to their car that you gain a wanted level. The building ledges, I've fell off, I've died...I've got back up and then succeeded. Like Koloth said, not everyone has strength, dexterity or luck on their side...hell, if it was me in real life, my luck would have the ledge break free, causing me to fall and then be hit by said crumbling ledge. Also saint's row is the GTA wannabe, of course they will put in features that GTA doesn't use but if GTA put those in now then they will be branded Saint's row wannabes and I doubt R* are going to lose that reputation and credibility of making GTA to what it is. Also no offence but seriously, if you can't evade the cops at 1 star wanted level or can't navigate building ledges/roof tops and while being a sore loser/cry baby over it all then you should trade the game in but don't slate the game because you don't have the patience to do it. At the end of the day, the problems you are having are caused by the player, not the game. p.s: however yes, the game is not a 10 but not for the reasons you stated ------------------- ![]() ![]()

quote ShadowJOkay, I am not taking sides in this particular debate, but I will moderate it, no pun intended. That said, I have a question for you: Why is it that people who have omplaints about this game are NOT running into threads and insultiing the people raving about how awesome it is; while people just LOVE to come into these threads and pelt anyone with a dissenting opinion about the game with insults and petty persoonal attacks? Your statement, while not being one of the most extreme examples in the forum, is painting every single person with a different opinion than yours with the same negative brush. Why can't you and others simply accept the fact that not everyone is in love with GTA IV, and that they have as much right to express their opinions as you do? quote ShadowJUnderstood. And the other side of this debate is that some people love realism in games while others hate it. Why is this so hard for people to address without resorting to insults? I just don't get it. ------------------- ![]() It's official. I have truly become a babysitter on Neo. Redemption, I want my $7.00 an hour!

re: Is this game really a "10"? |

Since when did I mention that anyone against my opinion can't have their own?
I have not read the last 7 pages and that whole post was directed completely to the thread author. I am not in love with the game nor was I stating that the thread author can't have negative opinions...I was simply stating the other side to his problems. If he hates the game, then that's not my problem, however he has come here stating he will be taking the game back because of a few minor problems that could be solved by simply having just a tad more patience with the game. For example, the police car bumping...just slow down, sure 60% of the time you don't see them. Hell I still crash full pelt into them but I am not throwing the controller through the window and ranting to you guys about it. The only thing I stated that you can fault me on is the first sentence which cuts into his poor grammar, spelling and punctuation. However I will forgive you Chiro for your false accusations and outburst towards me since I have noticed the sudden trend you stated within this forum ------------------- ![]() ![]()

ShadowJ, I never levied any false accusations against you. I even said your post was not one of the more extreme examples. In addition, you didn't specify who you were responding to. So it looks like you are talking to everyone who is making a complaing against the game, not some specific person or a specific complaint. This has been a common theme in this forum.

It's hard arguing with shajowj, Chiro, he's pretty boring and sort wanders all over the place. He wont take anything from a structured response.
On topic, I feel sorry for the people that find any major fault with this game. I love it, and sure it can be improved but it's still fantastic. I'd rate it 10/10 every time.

re: Is this game really a "10"? |

I have a serious question, Why do people constantly think 10s means perfect?
I already posted proof on why IGN gave it a 10, and what gamespot ratings mean. I would assume its the same for every place. Also I would like someone to please tell me how this game can be better with the same stuff the others had, gangs bikes, planes, Parachuting and the like? Also besides personal taste mind you. This isn't a rant or attacking anyone im just seriously curious since i always thought the storyline and where the game was located sets up the fun factor. And why do people not like the game for what it does? Can Someone please answer this to me and for others? To be honest I have yet to be arrested. I just don't feel like speeding down the street knowing the amount of traffic there is in this game. Its as if the game is making me adapt to the new GTA. Which i thought its supposed to do. Anyway Thats it. ------------------- Welcome to Crisis Core forum Welcome to Bad Company 2 God of War 3 official forum community

quote ChiroVetteI would have thought what my post had covered it was easy to notice who my post was directed too but yes I have noticed that theme but my post wasn't about that. I was simply stating that if the game was causing him that much hassle because of a few minor problems then he should do what he stated at the end of his post and trade the game in (basically give up) But to not cause confusion again (since I can do that in basically any post without even trying As to not getting arrested yet - nope not once but I have died around 60 times and been shot to death by police 10 times. What can I say? Rebel to the end Also Jack...meh not worth it these days, it used to be an unique thing to be the onky one on your enemy list, was fine with Shane joining me later on but now....old news, surprised you haven't found another mod to harrass yet ------------------- ![]() ![]()

from what i played i did enjoy it..given they took a lot of things out that i would of liked to stay in there..(mainly everything thats been mentioned) but i also remember hearing (i dont remember where) but isnt gta 4 like a template so to speak...to see what can be done with the system and the graphics kinda like what they did to gta 3 when it came out?

I wouldn't doubt that HilaryDuffGta, but I also don't see them going back to the old GTA. I think GTA is moved on from the wackiness and onto the realism like GTA4 shown, so probably this was, as you said, a template on how the game fairs on a new home made engine, Euphoria and sales. Its a success imo, so I see no reason to back track.

quote Final BladeDoesn't necesseraly have to be. It could also just be a test, to see what will happen if GTA goes into this direction. Maybe for next time, they will try to find a way to combine the two together. To have it serious and realistic, but also fun and wacky. ------------------- ![]()
