They already released San Andreas on LIVE for download to the 360, so I would assume that they are planning on releasing it on PSN as well. I think there is still enough interest in the game for a few stragglers who never played it to want to download it.

Agreed on the likelihood about IV's game engine going to be used and used and used. Also on SA over IV. I still like IV though.

Anywho, SA for PSN/PS3 is cool and all, but there would have to be something in the mix thrown in for me to fool with it instead of just popping in the SA disc when I want to play SA.

I seriously doubt that there would be anything other than the actual game. Rockstar is notorious for adding zilch to GTA ports, and a PSN/LIVE download GTA would be nothing but a straight port, I'm afraid. They might tweak the graphics so the game benefited by PS3 technology, but even that I seriously doubt.

I know. And while that can be more than a bit disconcerting at times, at least I'm not urged to quote Pesci about drive thru's from the Lethal Weapon series.

Given the state of the economy, the unexpected emergence of the Nintendo Wii, and luke warm sales for the 360 and PS3, I doubt we will see a PS4 or XBOX720 for years. I doubt we'll see microsoft or sony attempt another console until 2012. I wouldn't be surprised if the next gen isn't as far off as 2014-2015. Nintendo has changed the home gaming model for better or worse, and expect Microsoft and Sony to copy that formula to the T.

Sony and Microsoft will go as long as possible with this Gen until they meet their expected unit sales goals. Again, I have a feeling that this number is a long ways off. That being said, Rockstar has plenty of time to release another disc. The GTA franchise is key to Rockstars profitability, so I'm assuming they are already working on the next disc as we speak.

Rockstar has to step it up on the next game. I was thinking they'd be able to get away with releasing a remake of Vice City, but given how luke warm the response to IV was, they will have to come out with a jaw dropping remake of San Andreas to win back fans. I'm anticipating the reemergence of characters from San Andreas on PS2, three or more cities and countryside. If Rockstar delivers anything less, myself and many others will not be purchasing the game.

Totally calling that the next game will be set in an updated Vice City. Vice City was the better game, and while SA was fun it (IMO, don't know why I have to say that but anyway) wasn't very good. Their reach far exceeded their grasp with that game. They tried to do too much at once and the story suffered for it, it made no sense at all period. Sure it was ORIGINALLY about CJ returning home after the death of his mother and his past catching up to him, then it devolved into some sorta twisted take on the Rodney King Riots, with the evil corrupt cop in the end finally dieing.

But between the opening and the ending you work for the government, the triads, you break into a US military base and steal a jet pack. How does any of that have to do with a boy from the hood?

Because it's part of GTA's balls to the wall, over the top, hi-octane, crazier than a ferret on LSD, not take itself or anything else seriously, shoot it up, kill it before it dies, too hot to handle, too cold to hold, nose packed with cocaine, electrifying, testifying, 0 to 60 in .5 seconds, satirizing, high-flying, death-defying, nitrous injected, turbo boosted, cranked to 11 when the dial only goes to 10, vaporizing, devastating, brutalizing, earth-moving, floor-shaking, explosive, smells like napalm in the morning, two-fisted charm, presence, tone, and appeal.

If San An does go on PSN, I'd be with Chiro. With the exception of Vice City Stories, I think it would be exactly the same as if you popped in the disc and played it, although it would be fun with trophies or achievements.

One think I noticed is that I can't download SA in Australia.

I agree that Vice City was Rockstar's artistic masterpiece, but San Andreas changed what everyone thought was possible in a video game. Which game was more groundbreaking? If you are looking for a benchmark for all other sandbox games, San Andreas has to be it. The storyline was ridiculous, but I didn't even care because I was too busy having fun playing the game.

It is doubtful that Rockstar can replicate something as original as Vice City. They could return to VC, but I doubt they'll be able to capture whatever magic they had with the original. On the other hand, I am confident that the thrill and diversity of San Andreas can be surpassed on the next gen consoles.

Rockstar should steal Saint's Row model for creating a compact city. Endless amounts of rewards and missions on seemingly every single block throughout the city. What SR lacks is original writing and style. Pairing up Rockstars clever character design and Volitions creative map layout and mission structure would be a perfect match.

The perfect game would have GTA IV graphics, SR 2's creativity, and San Andreas as the location. This seems very obvious, and I hope somebody at Rockstar North has come up with this idea also.
