If you mean the absolutely breathtaking visuals of the GTA IV engine combined with the crazy ass, insane, over the top physics and insane plethora of completely stupid fun side missions of San Andreas and SR2 then I totally agree.

See for yourself. If that's the way the DLC is going, next stand-alone GTA is going to be amazing.

Chiro, look at that trailer and tell me it doesn't make you want to pick up the controller again and try the DLC. It's hilarious, there's shotguns that fire explosive bullets, helicopters that can pick up and drop cars, cinematic dive-onto-plane cutscenes. Base jumping off a skyscraper on a bike, automatic shotguns from the back of a bike. What's not to like?

SA/SR2 physics suck compared to IV, tbh. Nice visuals with stale animations would be a leap backwards.

I disagree. I think SR2 blows the physics doors off of IV for pure fun factor. But IV has breathtaking visuals, while SR2 is mediocre in terms pf graphics for this generation.

Hahahaha Shane, that does look pretty sick, even I have to admit that. That tank looks insane as well. Like I said, I hope this is a sign of things to come. Sadly, I am sure they aren't ditching the car car/physics, the horrific (at least for my taste) perimeter wanted system, and the overall physics of the game. I may pick this on up just to play through it once, but I'm sure that when I want to run through the streets causing mayhem, I will continue booting up PS2 GTA games and SR2.

Okay, I think this is not only a god topic, but an important one. For anyone who doesn't know it, there are several new trailers for The Ballad of Gay Tony, which debuts on XBox Live (as well as in conjunction with TLAD on disc) on October 29th.

Anyone who hasn't seen them, I advice you to watch the trailers, [here] specifically paying attention to the new sticky bomb weapon, new military helicopter (with MISSILES!), train hijacing mission where you lift it up with a chopper, as well as what looks like base jumping.

This has started me wondering if perhaps Rockstar wants to "win back" the great many fans of the old style GTA, and may be planning on more of a compromise between San Andreas type physics and the new style for the next GTA installment. Also check out the new weapons, including a gun with EXPLODING bullets as well as an automatic shotty!
There is no possible way of knowing from that trailer what the next stand-alone game will be like, and in my opinion it would be a waste of time trying to use it to extrapolate.

Who knows. Rockstar probably don't know yet.

Waste of time? I don't think so. One of the major purposes of these forums in discussing future games is speculation about the future of the series or the direction of the sequels. We have been doing this with GTA forums in the old GTA III forum waaaaaaay back in 2001.

I didn't say its a waste of time speculating about future GTA, I said its a waste of time using a trailer for an expansion pack to generalise what the next game would be like.

Read first, critisize second.

I obviously did read first and disagree second (I disagreed by the way, I didn't criticize. There is a difference) or I might have said something out of left field like, "NO, I will not eat my Turnips! Stop acting like my mother!"

The fact is I completely understood what you said, and I think that the last two trailers are the PERFECT reason to start speculating about the next GTA games as they seem to be going in the genital direction AWAY from all the stuffy, pompous realism of GTA IV.

i'm kinda hoping that we will get gta 5 in the same way that we got vice city...we had so much more stuff to do in it compared to what u could do in gta 3...Maybe that is rockstars plan they wanted to see what the system could hold first off and then build it up from there

re: You think Rockstar may be going back to the original GTA style with GTA V?

Doubt that, judging from information I read the earliest date GTA5 would come out in 2012, but that's when the new consoles is probably going to release.

I think the DLC(BOGT and TLAD) are equivalents to the expansions on PS2(VC and SA). Personally, I don't want GTA5 yet. They can continue making DLC episodes as it's cheaper, cost efficient and further more making them alot of money than a new GTA version that may or may not sell due to the horrific reception GTA4 has gotten.

re: You think Rockstar may be going back to the original GTA style with GTA V?

Goddamnit Chiro,

Now I'm going to have to go out and buy IV AGAIN just to play this DLC. It looks ridiculously good. GTA trailers usually do an excellent job of previewing the level of action and personality of the game. If you recall, the original trailer for IV was a perfect summary of IV(plodding, boring, zero action, pretenious, etc). This trailer is reminiscent of the SA trailer is terms of action. It gives us a taste of the features that will undoubtly bring the fun back to the game.

re: You think Rockstar may be going back to the original GTA style with GTA V?

If anyone is quoting plz answer my question as well.

Does or will any of the two DLC episodes update content like vehicles etc to be compatible online or will it only appear in single player?
