Oh now I get it!!!!!

The reason why all of you seem to complain is coz you guys play on xbox and there are no or few mods for xbox or so ive heard. That must suck. I wouldnt be able to play the game without mods because my house is a mod and there is no place in morrowind big enough to store all my stuff

I think it's pretty fun to use mods. I mean you get to add things to the games content that the designers were either to lazy or to stupid to put in there to begin with.

Well, not everyone here plays on Xbox. And we don't see too many mod-specific questions in the forum so much as we do PC-specific questions involving technical errors and console usage, so lack of mods isn't really what get the Xbox users up in arms.

And on the topic of mods - I love them. Graphics are improved, gameplay is improved, you have access to all sorts of cool weapons and armor and new quests so gameplay possibilities are pretty much endless.

uh-huh

first pic: Left = Morrowind, Middle = Oblivion, Right = Morrowind

Second pic: Left = Morrowind, Right = Oblivion.

Mods are used in both games and quite frankly to get Morrowind to look anything close to Oblivion I used several mods, mainly Morrowind Graphics Extender to gain the LoD effect and a dark brotherhood armour replacer

As to them being lame...only people who haven't experienced them say that

As to the original poster. No one complains or whines about not using mods and like Eve said, hardly anyone posts PC specific questions let alone mod specific questions. They used too years ago and especially when I moderated here because I too have the PC version but now...they float back to the PC forum.

re: Oh now I get it!!!!!

Perhaps I should elaborate more on what I mean.

I believe its lame because people use mods to get their stats up way more than what they should actually be. And as for "not experiencing" the mods, the fact of the matter is, I don't want to, I'd rather play the game the way it is and keep it honest.

re: Oh now I get it!!!!!

Elaborate more? You didn't elaborate at all the first time.

Not every mod is cheat, and not everyone uses mods to up their stats and make the game easier. In fact, most people use them to make gameplay more challenging. Others don't use mods that change difficulty at all, preferring instead to improve the graphics and add new and interesting quests.

re: Oh now I get it!!!!!

Even with elaboration...I don't see your point. Mainly because not everyone uses mods or the CS to cheat. Yes there are mods that cheat the game but if you don't want that then you don't download that.

The majority of mods either A) Are retextures/remodels of what is currently in the game B) Graphic replacers for what is currently in the game C) New weapons, armour etc. with balanced stats D) new races with balanced stats and so on and so forth

They add extra content and a lot more game playing hours, whereas the xbox has what the game has to offer and then you replay through it again and again (believe me I have done so on both PC and Xbox, hold 500 saves on each and done everything, only thing I haven't done is experience all the mods out there)

As to your argument...no you can do that on the xbox and it is called the soultrap glitch, jail glitch and drain skill trick.

As to what you are actually describing is the console command that comes with the PC. Which allows us to use godmode and literally anything we want, again that is optional and is mostly used to fix things (such as fixme will make the player or selected NPC jump away from the place they are stuck at so you don't have to reload a saved game)

Lastly yes, with things come good advantages and bad advantages, you have simply focused on the bad advantages

I dont mean they complain about not having mods they complain about the game and the game sucks coz there are no mods to improve the game when you begin to get rich or get all the items.

re: Oh now I get it!!!!!

was it necessary to quote his entire reply? and, this is pointless. the mods issue has been settled long ago. mods are for cheaters. unless you are one who uses them to make the game harder or cooler looking. case closed.

he means that people CHEATING with mods disappoint him. not like shadowj's mods, 4 graphics and stuff. and then just says he doesnt want to.

re: Oh now I get it!!!!!

There are some pretty harsh assumptions being made by some of the forum contributors about PC players who use mods. There is a perception that mods are all about cheating, about making the game easier, or making the player characters more powerful. In my experience, that is just not the case.

I am a PC player, and I use a bunch of mods. I have spent a lot of time trying out different mods. I go to web sites and peruse lists of hundreds of mods, looking for ones that sound fun or useful. And yet I have never found any mods that are used just to increase levels or attributes or skills. The only place I have ever heard about such a thing is on this forum, from people who don't use mods and are not familiar with them.

What does sometimes happen with mods is that they add items to the game that are just too powerful, or merchants that have hundreds of thousands of septims to spend, or quests giving huge rewards for completing easy tasks. Planet Elder Scrolls, where I have gotten most of my mods, allows comments to be posted on each mod, so that players who don't like that kind of thing can point out those mods and help like-minded players to avoid them. And if a player does find that a mod they are using unbalances the game too much to suit their sense of fair play, it is a simple matter of turning off the mod or uninstalling it to restore the balance.

Cheating is something else entirely. It is just as possible to cheat on X-box as on PC. Mods or console commands might make it quicker and easier to cheat on a PC, but highly-inflated levels, attributes, and skills, and outrageous permanent spell effects can also be achieved on X-box using other cheats. The soultrap glitch is, IMO, a cheat. The drain skill trick is, IMO, a cheat. Intentionally going to jail to lower your skills just so you increase your maximum possible level is, IMO, a cheat. I have read dozens of posts from X-box users on this forum that describe incredibly high levels, attributes, and skills, ultra-powerful spells and enchantments, and permanent armies of summoned creatures, that can only be achieved by means that I would consider cheating. All players must decide for themselves what constitutes cheating, and whether or not they are going to do it. A player who is on a PC and uses mods is no more likely to decide to cheat than anyone else.

thank you for typing out the things that we, who understand, wouldnt. but one thing. would you consider
The drain skill trick /Intentionally going to jail to lower your skills a cheat if they werent overused? i wouldnt cuz they are in the normal boundries of the game.
