Is this even a quest?

What is this all about translating the Dwemer language, with the help of Hanging Gardens? Is this a quest, or do we just get the runaround?

Anabolis in the Fighter's Guild asked me to bring him some more dwarven books so he could translate them alongside the Hanging Gardens, but he didn't tell me what those books were. Has anyone been able to find out what they are?

I think it is a quest, but the guy won't be able to translate it...
I have no idea what you get out of it.

Anyone?

re: Is this even a quest?

yes it's a quest, it's trebonius' dissapearance of the dwemer quest, the other books are the egg of time and another one I can't remember but he can't translate them, the only one who can is the last living Dwemer in Tel Fyr but I don't think he can for some reason

re: Is this even a quest?

So... this is basically a quest which can't be completed? Interesting. Did the Bethesda programmers have a brain-fart while dealing with this quest, or are they just trying to piss us off by giving us an incomplete-quest? Whatever. I'm going to kill everyone after I complete ALL the quests anyways.

re: Is this even a quest?

I wouldn't kill anyone if you plan on getting the G.O.T.Y edition, you will need to talk to some people on the main ilse.

As for the quest, It's a waste of time, I think there is a way to become guild leader of mages without doing it, though I am not sure

re: Is this even a quest?

no it isn't an incomplete quest since when you go to Yagrum and he says he can't translate them, you go back to trebonius and he'll consider the quest completed. then he'll give you another to kill the Telvanni Patrons which you'll be rewarded with the necromancer amulet and his staff

and yes there are 2 ways of becoming Arch-Mage

1) nasty way - complete Edwinna's quests and challenge Trebonius to a duel

2) nice way - complete Skinks-in-tree-shade's quests and hand Trebonius a resignation slip, you can then either let him retire and live or kill him

re: Is this even a quest?

Same here. My journal was updated and said something similar to "I am now Arch-Mage", but everybody still called me Master Wizard or something. On the other note, the Necromancer's amulet sucks. All my weapons are enchanted, and everytime I hit someone, I lost health because it absorbs part of the enchantment. My health was down to half before I realized what was happening.

what do you mean Mudman, the Necromancer doesn't absorb your health, it retores it I think

also I went with Edwinna's quests

re: Is this even a quest?

Example: I enchanted an ebony spear with Damage Health CWS, and I went around killing creatures in Kogoruhn. Every time I hit something, I absorbed part of my own Damage Health. I was down to like 500 before I realized I was hurting myself, and then I remembered the 'Absorb Spell" or something on the Necromancer's Amulet.

re: Is this even a quest?

Indeed it is not. The Necromancer's amulet does nothing to interfere with weapons and such, I believe. Its effects are: Resist Normal Weapons 25%, Fort. Int 25 Pts, Restore Health 1 Pt, and Spell Absorption 25%, all constant on yourself. None of those would have the effect of lowering your health, so maybe it was the spear itself, or something else. By the way, I happened to be promoted the 'nice way', but I had no idea there were other ways.

re: Is this even a quest?

Yeah. Absorb spell will never hurt you. You got the enchantment wrong when you made it.
Damaging enchantments on SELF are a very bad idea...
Especially constant effect...

re: Is this even a quest?

I know you all think I'm wrong about the Necromancer's amulet, but I'm still using the same weapons and armor, except the Amulet, and my weapons don't hurt me anymore. So.
