Trebonius split the title of arch-mage with me but i cannt seem to get him to duel me. I have already solved his dissapearance of the dwarves quest too. Plz help. I want to be the only arch-mage and get the necromancer's amulet.

in order to duel Trebonius you must complete all of Edwinna's quests in Ald'Ruhn mages guild, to become arch-mage you must get to Edwinna's last quest while at the rank of Master Wizard

you don't need to do Trebonius' quests, as long as you do Ranis' and Ajira's quests and then do Edwinna's then you will have enough quests to your name to be at Master Wizard rank...leaving you to challenge Trebonius to a duel

a duel topic should come up and once you speak to him about it, he will say meet you in the arena in vivec, head over to the Vivec arena and he will be waiting for you in the pit, beat him to become arch-mage

or since you have done his first quest, finish his second quest to grab his staff and amulet

or even do Skink-in-tree-shade's quests and hand him a slip saying he has to retire, then just kill him on the spot and loot his corpse

I have done all teh quests and everything but there is no topic for a duel. Ive went through all his possible topics musltiple times and i cant figure it out. I also cant get any more quests from anyone cause i now outrank them. I duno. And one other question. I just accidentally closed the stats and map menus. When i right click i only have my magic and inventory menus. how do i get the other 2 back?

and now i tried the command togglemenus in the console and now all my menus are gone. ahhh.... wut do i do.

press your menu key and click on your inventory box, magic box and health bar in the bottom left hand corner, along with clicking the small map

they will appear and clicking them again will make the menus disappear again

as for your actual problem, I am not sure, try speaking with Edwinna again, if she doesn't say anything then it will have to be put down as a glitch and only thing that can be suggested is to reload to a previous save

If you get the "final" quest from Skink, Trebonius reads the letter and retires. You are both known as Arch-Mage, but you are the actual head of the Guild. You can not then duel him in the Arena. All you can do is Taunt him into attacking you, kill him, and take his stuff, as ShadowJ said. If you get the final quest from Elbert, the duel topic comes up in conversation with Trebonius and you can kill him in the Arena. By doing this, you can get the Necromancer's Amulet and his staff. You can also get his equipment by doing the quest for him in which he sends you to kill all of the Telvanni councilors. The only advantage to doing Skink's way (the peaceful way) is that you get 2 extra Reputation points (which don't translate into anything in game terms). 2 Rep points vs. a must have Magic-item for spellcasters---it's pretty easy to conclude that killing him is the way to go.

you just kill him end of story...he is like Vivec...he is on the must kill list

Yeah, Trebonius is a tool. I like doing the Telvanni quest for him (so I get his stuff) and then fighting him in the Arena. He casts like 1 or 2 spells at you and then runs up like an idiot and tries to attack you hand-to-hand. What kind of jackass gives up the Necromancer's Amulet anyway? Anyone that stupid needs to be killed for the good of the people.

I prefer a challenge (like Trebonius is one but got to give him the benefit of the doubt) so I let him keep his stuff until the very end...surprisingly he doesn't last long

yeah, thanks, i just decided to taunt him into killing me. im done with all teh mages guild stuff and i am head of house hlaalu so i dont have to worry bout teh telvanni factor.
