A Female Protagonist

The newly acquired E3 information came with a few screens that feature a female protagonist. At the moment nothing more is known about her, except that she will be the main character. FFX-2 featured Yuna as the main character and many people were put off by this. What are thoughts on them doing this again?

re: A Female Protagonist

I think it is a welcome change. So far, the majority of the main characters have been guys. FFX-2 had Yuna as the main character but were put off mostly because of her girly attitude. But this one appears a lot different than Yuna. Judging by her appearence, she looks as though she will take on the personality of someone like Squall, no one giddy or hyper like Zidane and Tidus (or Yuna for that matter).

re: A Female Protagonist

It wasn't that Yuna was the main charecter that made me mad about the game, it was the fact that there were abosultly no male charecters with actual roles. I am perfectly fine with it as long as they have guy as part of your party or however they decide to do it. As long as it isn't a Charles Angles type thing, such as FFX-2, then I am completly fine with it.

re: A Female Protagonist

As long as there are still guys in the party, and the game isn't focused on outfits, the game will be fine. I really prefer a female main character every once in a while, but I like having a balance of male and female characters in the party. Although, I didn't mind Final Fantasy X-2 at all. ^^

I wouldn't really care if it is balanced. They could have a ratio of five girls to two guys for all I cared, as long as those two guys aren't straight out of a "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" magazine.

re: A Female Protagonist

i think that this time SE has hit the jackpot because with Yuna they flopped trying to turn it into a novella where the whole motivation of the story was of her bf being lost and her trying to find him. i think that by the appearences of this character that she will actually be like cloud( i.e. a favorite for all male and female, probably have some kick ass weapon or attacks or background, and will open up in teh right way.) in essence i think that she will be the next cloud

It has worked to success in the past. FFVI was a masterpiece and it could be said that Terra and/or Celes were the main characters there. And as you said, the mixture of male characters should balance the game out nicely.

From the looks of things, she looks like a pretty independent hero, unlike Rikku and Yuna who appeared weak from the outside.

She looks a bit tomboy-ish.
Like she could easily stick up for herself if she ever gets into trouble. But I'm hoping that she at least has a bit of personality. She looks a bit too serious.

re: A Female Protagonist

I'd much rather a tough tomboy than someone like Yuna. I don't know how I'll react to a love relationship between her and a male character though. I usually prefer a male protagonist winning the love of a non-tomboy girl. In X-2, Yuna and Tidus was alright because of their development in the prequel. I guess i'll have to wait and see.

re: A Female Protagonist

By looking at this screenshot, I'm getting the impression that she's kinda like Tifa (kinda looks like Tifa's pose from AC)
Maybe Squeenix is hinting that she'll be a bit like Tifa .... or maybe I'm just looking too far into things.

Anyways, I'm hoping she's not too manly. There's gotta be a bit of femininity to her. I hate it when butchy type of women have lead roles (Like Lara Croft). >_<

re: A Female Protagonist

She's got boobs, nice legs, and a slim figure. I'm sure she'll have no problems appealing to males.

Her cape is kind of weird looking though. And she doesn't appear to have any weapons, so she may be a Tifa ripoff after all.

She has a gun, doesn't she? I'm pretty sure in one of the screenshots I've seen of her, she has a gun.

I know who she looks like! Miss Cloud!
It's the spikey hair that reminds me of it

re: A Female Protagonist

Heh, everyone looks like Cloud these days.

In the battle screenshot, she looks like she's holding a dagger or something small in her left hand. It could be a gun, but it's too small to tell.

A very cool retractable (I think that's the right word) type of gunblade

Best weapon ever!
