Inspired by Matt Addison is some other thread... In the past mainstream FF games, we have always witnessed the male hero falling for the beautiful girl. Cecil and Rosa, Loche and Celes (although there wasn't one dominant hero here), Tifa --> Cloud? <--> Aeris?, Squall and Rinoa, Zidane and Garnet and Tidus and Yuna. This time the main character is probably the girl shown in the trailers and if the rest of the series is anything to go by, she will fall in love with a male (or maybe a female). We saw Yuna in FFX-2 go through a journey to find Tidus, but this isn't the same because the characters had already been established in FFX so it could be thought of as expanding or finishing Tidus' initial quest. Do you think there will be any sort of romance in this episode because there is a female protagonist? And you took my discussion from a previous thread and made it a unique one. Someone is looking to be a Moderator. XD Anyway, from initial appearance, without knowledge on other characters it is very hard to judge such things. Atypically, we always see romance of some kind in every Final Fantasy game, so whether or not it will be the focus of this story is yet to be seen. I'm sorry. I didn't see your name on that subject. If you look through the posts in this forum, it was discussed a number of times.
I liked how Wakka and Lulu had a sub-relationship in FFX which was then expanded on in the sequel. Selphie and Irvine were only hinted but nothing really came of it. I wouldn't really say that about Selphie and Irvine. I believe they got up to some hunky-dory things when they were stranded in Fisherman's Horizon, and by the end of the game they are together.

Heh...
It's actually the male character from FFVXIII and as far as we know, he isn't going to be in the game. He's possibly from a different world unfortunately. It would be cool if they got together. Damn, I wish I had my broadband so I can watch the trailer. T_T If that's the case then I am pretty stumped. We only see this female character. Maybe some more information will be released soon, although going by the amount of time it took Square Enix to get us credible information about Final Fantasy XII... let me just say that it wasn't a nice wait. ------------------- I want your love. I think that whether romance is a main part of the story or not, it will still somehow find it's way into it. A bit of romance can make a good story a great one, if done right. And so far Squeenix has done an OK job with romance, so I don't see why this would be any different. There are many possible scenarios for it to happen and still be original.

You should download the trailer posted in the info thread. It's only 9 megs and is certainly worth the wait. There were no hints on a possible male love interest, or any other characters for that matter.
I was looking through some older threads in the FFXII forum and I couldn't believe that people were posting in 2002. That's well before I signed up to Neo. We haven't really seen anything that shows us "Lightning's" personality, but judging from the trailer she seems like a strong, tomboyish type of character. So I'm hoping she falls for a strong, strong-willed manly guy, and not a wimp (like Tidus)
....Here's a thought, maybe she'll fall in love with the main baddie (assuming it's a guy ... or maybe she's gay - maybe FF's first gay main character?) ------------------- | |

Come to think of it, all the male characters in the past were pretty wimpy or self absorbed. Zidane started off as a sweet talker but then developed into a 'My life isn't worth living' kind of guy for a while.
From a girls point of view, which male character would make a good partner. And don't say Gackt! He's real! Or so it seems... If Zell wasn't so.. obnoxious? Yeah that's the right word. Anyway, if he wasn't like that I guess he wouldn't be too bad.

Ah yeah. From a males perspective, I would have to say Locke too. He was my definition of cool back then. Edgar seemed to have a head on his shoulders too.

Oh My God!! How could I have possibly forgotten my favourite, spunkiest Final Fantasy male character of all time?
