combat system |

to be honest i think that the new final fantasy xiii will not have a good combat system (just a thought), i think that the best combat system was the one in final fantasy x (please write back if you agree with this. i think this new game is going to be like the final fantasy xii combat system (wich was alrate),but the big problem with this system is that you cannot stop and think and decide what your next move will be, and it is much too fast IMO what do you think???

The battle you saw in the trailer was not really the real thing.

It wasn't really the real thing. It was way too film-ish for it. Dunno how to explain what I mean really

Well, the part we did see didn't really seem like it was the real game to me.

That doesn't mean it isn't the real thing, you know. Obviously we don't know a damn thing about the battle system, so parts of it very well could be what we should expect from it.

I'm agreeing with Shuyu here. They were definitely in-game battles. The menus, HP damage, guages, etc. tip us off there ...
![]() ![]() I'm personally feeling *meh* about the Battle System. Until more footage and info is released, I won't hold my breathe for something great. FFX-2 and FFXII's battle systems were nothing special, so I'm not expecting anything super amazing for FFXIII. Although, if Crisis Core's battle system ends up being half as good as people are saying it is, maybe I'll have higher hopes for XIII. -------------------

I didn't mean that it didn't look like the game graphics, I meant that she hopped around too much IMO.

Remember at the start of FFX you have the battle scenes with Auron and Tidus, when they hit them and move on to the next set of monsters, maybe this is just the same as that or just how they attack by making it more advanced. I would not doubt these being in the battle scene but maybe just on the 1 of occasion.

Just looking at the screens, it REALLY seems as though the battle system will work in the same way that Folklore works. You have "Mindpoints" which you spend when you attack. Rather than having to wait for the ATB guage to fill completely you only have to wait till you have enough ATB to spend on the particular attack. So you can pull of MANY quick attacks in a row if you have full ATB (and if the cost of the attack is low). And I assume that there will be some form of armour that will reduce ATB Cost to say 1 so, you can pull of multiple attacks in an extremely short amount of time (and I'm sure that there will also be some sort of negative side effect to this armour).

re: combat system |
quote Krunal i agree i think that it will be similar to folklore, but i dont it should be like that because it will be totally getting rid of the final fantasy identity, the combat system is what makes final fantasys so unique. in other words it wont be like playing a final fantasy game if it is like folklores combat system

I don't like the battle system in FFX, I don't like turnbased battle systems at all. After a while, what determines the winner of the battle is the one with the most turns, not the most skills. I like the FFXII battle system. I think it's the best battle system to date in any FF games. But I heard the battle system in FFXIII is going to be the ATB system sped up to the max.
