	Okay, I'm sorry but I have just got to comment on firstly the title of this thread... (yes this'll be a rant, you have been warned, I've been known to make Chiro-Style/length posts now and then) When will people realise that this game is so much better? How on earth can you judge whether or not a game is better than another game (vsXIII to XIII in this case) without playing EITHER. Forget playing it, you've not even seen (detailed) videos of either in action. So you have seen a bit of gameplay for XIII, but you've seen absolutely nothing about vsXIII, and you KNOW nothing really about XIII's battle system. The truth is, there is nothing to realise. The only thing you can do is make impressions based on what we've seen and that is what people have done. If you had played both games and then made the thread, it'd make sense, but with limited info that we have, a thread such as this is honestly nothing more than a ground for FFXIII fans to flame vsXIII fans and vice versa. And those caught in the middle are those that love them both. Course, you're not actually flaming (or are you... I've just read the first post... I'll be reading and replying to single posts in a moment...) Okay... so firstly Shuyu, HE (yes I said he ...do your worst...) has made up his mind on vsXIII based on the information that has been provided (monotonous world, generic characters etc), but he isn't going to stick to the views, if it comes to pass that more information is released debunking these assumptions. His view on the game, I'm sure would change if a lighter side to the planet comes to pass... that said... People comparing this game to Traditional RPG's... This is NOT a Traditional RPG. You cannot fault it for not being that. That's like saying "I don't like the next Final Fantasy game because it's not a racer". The reason they're creating this game as an Action-RPG is because many people have become fond of Action RPG's and it's something different. Folklore was an Action RPG, and it is to date one of my all-time favourite games on the PS3. I mean I personally HATE Racing games, which essentially means that my views on any racing games are moot, i.e. they don't matter. If I were to love racing games and hate a game in particular that's a different story, but hating all racing games, I honestly don't have a leg to stand on when talking about games such as that. So if you're a fan of FFXIII and hate FFvsXIII because it's an Action-RPG... you too have no leg to stand on when talking about this game, and shouldn't bother commenting on how crap this game is. If you're here, there must be something that interests you (unless you just like pissing people off, in which case this forum and any PS3 vs XBOX360 discussion is the best place for you... though you're not actually wanted by those that visit the thread for legitamate purposes...). Talking about Kingdom Hearts series, it is an Action RPG, and personally I LOVE IT. I'd say that I preferred KHII a fair bit to FFXII (though FFX still beats all games). Now the hate for a game that's sort of "dark" and "mysterious"... I'm fairly sure all horror games are dark and mysterious, and whilst this isn't a horror game, the darkness and mysteriousness creates an atmosphere about this game, which is yet to reveal itself (honestly, we've seen a handful of videos, most of which are replying a one scene that was initially revealed over and over again). Comparing this game to Devil May Cry... Again maybe I'm one of the few, but I feel that the two games (this and that) are in different genre's, and with that said, you don't know what the battle system of this game will be like, so I can't really back that comment up, I can only back it up with the fact that this game is Action RPG, that is Action Adventure/Shooter... Now personally, I'm excited for both Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Versus XIII, in fact I'm equally excited for both, because the only REAL information I have about the game is that they're both forms of RPG's, that'll be released in a very distant Future. I'm more excited about White Knight Chronicles which has more of a chance being released this year or early next year than FFXIII (and that's in the US and EU). Game information wise, FFXIII is looking better than FFXII and that's the only valid comparison I feel that I can make, but that said FFXII looked amazing till it came out and the characters were rubbish (Still loved the Gameplay - though I know, not many did) [/rant] -------------------

	These games aren't even close to being out yet. I can imagine how the fighting over which one is better will be when THEY ARE ACTUALLY RELEASED. Realistically, you can only speculate. -------------------

However, having said that, FFXIII is my #2 game on my list of "games that I WILL get." Both look like amazing RPGs and let us all be real, the RPG genre is weak as of right now with an underrated Folklore, Star Ocean 4, and Valkyria Chronicles (not a true RPG, but close enough). From what we have seen (especially now with FFXIII battle system released) they have the quality of being great games, but I think Krunal might agree with me that stories in FF games are what makes them EPIC, and we know the plotline, but we do not know how it evolves or where it leads to. Versus appeals to me more simple because it looks (to me) more mature than FFXIII, more of a storyline that i think i will enjoy. I like a love story in FF games (whether it is a FF7, FF8, or FFX love story) and Versus looks like it will revolve around a different type of love story. FFXIII does not seem to have a love story from what we have seen, but I cannot rule it out completely. -------------------

	When I heard Versus had realtime gameplay, I was sold. 	actually i agree with Red9, just because you do not like the dark clothes Noctis wears, does not mean he is a cliche (spelling). As far as relating to characters, that is a huge selling point for video games, any story (whether it be a movie, game, whatever) does better when it relates to the audience. That is obvious, my proof is how many female characters have you seen in video gaming which happens to be a male dominant hobby? -------------------

Dark clothig is surely the least of the thing that make Noctis a clichè hero. The fact that he is Nomura'a alterego might be the first for importance though And I'd like to informe you that i like his clothes unlike the most part of people :3 -------------------

	ShadowGuard, I agree with you 100%. The only thing that any game, not just the FF series has going for it, is the Storyline, and if the story line is good, I'm generally accepting of the gameplay. Ofcourse there are some instances where that's not the case, such as GTAIV, to whose story I just could not get into becuase the Gameplay was just not to my liking... FFXII on the other hand, I loved the Gameplay, but I just didn't like the story enough to continue playing with the characters. As far as the characters in both this game and FFXIII go, they seem to be more well-defined than that of FFXII, and so for me, overall, I'm equally interested in both of the games. An example of what I mean, is that it seems that the story revolves around Noctis, who by all means is the prince, and in FFXIII it revolves around Lightning, whose actually making a difference. In comparison FFXII's main character was Vaan, who had little to do with anything, and was just tagging a long for the ride, simply because his brother had died (and things like that)... Again, FFX was to do with Tidus, and he was very much involved and at the center of the story, along side Yuna. So in my eyes, FFXIII and FFvsXIII are looking to be better than FFXII storywise, but only time will tell... I make no comments about the darkness of the games, since I don't really care about that.. -------------------

I think it is because FFXIII appeals everyone while Versus seems to appeal to the older crowd, I think it will have a more complex or mature plot/script. That is just my opinion, but I am by no means diminishing FFXIII, like I said, these two games are THE games to get for any RPG fan and really anyone who calls themselves a gamer. 	Both games look very good and and i cant wait for both but i am more interested in Versus as of right now. The trailers for versus are some of the best that Ive ever seen with the music and the action. Lighting impressed me in demo footage that ive seen and she alone has put me back on the hype waggon for 13. I long for a game with a very soul-shattering story, something that makes you feel like crying and makes you really connect with the characters. Having said that, I'm more excited about FFXIII. Appart for the last point I agree with you completely.
