I do hope it is the best FF, but honestly it looks extraordinary. Well the CG does, but when I think about it it looks like a Advent Children that's basically interactive where you can fight the battles.

The FF7 games are overrated, and what's wrong with a little realism? Yes I'm fully aware it's Final FANTASY but having some stuff like suits in a fantasy game doesn't really bother me too much. I actually like the world Nomura has created in this one.

Realism in video games amounts to how in-depth and lifelike the textural and geometric renderings are, and that's about as far as it goes. And while this game does admittedly have massive visual appeal, I do hope that they don't sacrifice core game play elements for this visual realism.
In my opinion the Final Fantasy games have been getting worse with each incarnation. Thirteen and Versus show promise, and I only hope the deliver. I really think the action element of this specific title can play to its benefit, as long as they execute. ------------------- Ron says:

When I say realistic, I don't mean graphics wise. I meant the universe was more down to Earth, and believable. I hope that the new FF games are better as well. After FF8 it has been down hill in my opinion.

At what expense, though? There has to be a definitive line that cuts at realism. I understand your sentiments slightly, but if the only surefire difference between a realistic game and reality is that I can stab people without legal repercussions, well, that's no fun. I'll go buy a sword and a mannequin and at least spare my muscles the atrophy. Define what you mean by down to Earth, though, as I may misunderstand. As far as I'm concerned I like my role playing games to allow me to assume the role of someone or something that is, for all intents and purposes, unrealistic. ------------------- Ron says:

realism is how characters interact with their surroundings. How the world is set-up... This is a very futuristic world so most of it is very realistic (in the future) fantasy comes in when magic and the like is added.
Final Fantasy needs this, the gaming world needs this to be honest... From what I have seen, this game does look to be much more realistic, what the final version will look like is completely unknown (obviously). -------------------

I'm going to disagree. FF games started to go down hill after Final Fantasy X or FF10. The sequel to that game was shitty, The online MMO was alright, the FF12 was great graphically but wasn't really a FF single player game. Dirge of Cerberus was quite possibly the worst FF game ever made. Crisis Core was terrific however.
