Mass Effect Review.... BS!!!! |
|
This is it right here the 'IGN' review, IGN sucks balls.
http://media.xbox360.ign.com/media/718/718963/vids_1.html Watch that, and now compare the review to Assassins Creed. 1) IGN said that Mass Effects frame rate drops ALL THE TIME; Assassins Creed, nope. 2) Mass Effect's play time, with side quests 30 hours; Assassins Creed (free roam) 40+ hours. 3) Mass Effect CONTROL PROBLEMS!!! Buttons don't respond. Assassins Creed controls smooth as butter. 4) Mass Effect, technical glitches, using powers sucks, clipping through walls a lot, etc; Assassins creed, nope. 5) Mass Effect's "galaxy" is pretty small, just the same things with a different color scheme; Assassins Creed, nope. 7) Mass Effect repetitive if you play straight through it, yes; Assassins Creed repetitive if you play straight through it, yes. 6) Mass Effect: 9.4 Assassins Creed 7.5 Do I smell some BS? I think I need to take a LONG shower.

The reviews are done by people, biased opinions will always be in play. Even though you are totally correct gravity, do not bother wasting your time. Sending it to them only make you look like a fool.
After about a month, we will see what the majority CUSTOMER says for both and look at each sales. Then we will know the true winner.

That is biased but reviews don't mean shit to me as long as I have enjoyed the game.
BTW. GT reviews are the only reviews I like tbh. They seem to be one of the more objective reviewers out there.

Reviewes nowadays are messed up. I try not to listen to them. I only look at the the reviews for games that im interested in and only because they got to play it earlier and to see how it fairs with other reviews to see if the game is worth my time. But If I see a game that is really interesting but got bad reviews (LAIR) I would still try to get it.

lol, I would say from experience that it's not 15 hours HAHAHAH...loser:P
I wrote in another post somewhere, but I'll just say it here, I have played nearly 30 hours, and I haven't even assassinated the first guy. (Oh yeah the thread was "How long did it take you"). Dude, where the hell did you get 15 hours from, just pulled it out of your ass? Also, to answer your "problems" 1) Does assassins' creed frame rate slow down ALL THE TIME, like Mass Effects? No. Maybe it does for you because you don't take care of your system/console. 2) Read above.

Isn't it true that there were a lot more issues with graphics in Assassin's Creed's 360 version (which that version is listed for as a review) than the PS3 version? Depends on who reviewed what, when it comes down to it. Assassin's Creed is a new kid to the block, and I'm willing to bet that high expectations of what people were hoping for there got to the better of them, whereas a lot of things in Mass Effect run a course similar to KotOR, an excellent game series, making a lot of people who play that have severe bouts of nostalgia.
I heard that Mass Effect was much longer than thirty hours though. I know at least 15-20 hours are needed for the main quest if you rush. I also heard that, even with minor issues, the graphics and audio for Mass Effect was stellar. If you do not feel they focused enough on the positive of Assassin's Creed, it's probably best you send in a note comparing the two to them -- I remember not too long ago one of those major review sites actually looked back into one of the reviews because a large number of people disliked how the review turned out.

Nah, I don't want to send a message, it will just get shut down, what I want to do is say this:
Mass Effect is a GREAT GAME, but so is Assassins' Creed and the reviews just don't say it...

quote gravity1337I didn't pull it out of my ass, I don't own the game personally but a couple of my friends do... Now stop being a fanboy and relax. One of my friends it took 10 hours to beat the game.. Honestly, I don't know what the hell you are doing if it takes you 40 or 50. There's not even that much to do, it's not like Oblivion. You probably are having fun doing all the side quests which are all basically the same thing.. there's like 3 different variations. No, all the Ps3's that I play with seem to be in perfect condition, my friends and I wouldn't waste that much money on a console just to harm it later. I stated that the Frame Rate slows down, I never said ALL the time. Honestly though, It does slow down- get into a huge battle just for kicks and see for yourself. SOMETIMES you definitely notice a slowdown.. or maybe you aren't observant enough? Idk, w/e not my prob. Now once again chill, I'm not insulting your favorite game- in fact I like the game- I'm just stating some things ive noticed from MY experience. People do have different ones you know. -------------------

re: Mass Effect Review.... BS!!!! |

I have gotten into huge fights, no doubt, and I am very observant... no frame rate issues (for me at least) at all.
But what exactly would classify as a frame rate issue? In my opinion that would be where the game freezes up for a second then starts up again, little glitchty or something. So if it is that, then no I have not seen any frame rate issues on MY game. What have I been doing all this time? Free running, killing guards, finding Templar's/flags (I don't use the Maps). And I also play without the HUD, it makes the game MUCH more interesting, by not seeing where you need to go; you actually have to navigate YOURSELF. But, once again, YOU don't have the game I do... your friends are not a reliable source to me, so unless YOU get the game, and YOU play it and tell me its 10 hours... and the game is bad (with side quests) then sure. Also, in my time (40 hours) I was including the fact that you SHOULD just be running around for at least a couple hours. Again man, don't make assumption about a game that you haven't experienced your self fully, meaning you don't just play it at your friends house for an hour. Also, for all you know your friends can be lying, or even stretching the truth. And don't tell me that your friends will never at least 'stretch the truth' because everyone does...

re: Mass Effect Review.... BS!!!! |

Frame rate issues tend to be when a frames per second (fps) begins to drop, which, while to be expected on computers, is something a lot of people expected not to see in a game such as Assassin's Creed. Whether or not it is there, I do not know -- I haven't honestly noticed much of a difference when I got a chance to watch it in action myself.
The time spent on core missions averages out at about 18 hours, although if you are using handicaps such as removing the HUD, than it's not as if you are providing numbers which the lay man would get. It's like saying that the game is taking that long because you are playing it on super hard, not that you haven't already played through it on a lower setting. As has been mentioned, your friend might be a little off, but in the defense of the person, it's entirely possible for someone to finish the game and have a good time with it in less time, some people report taking roughly 14 hours to finish the main quest without much hurrying about. The Mass Effect one, however, is not a massive improvement over that either way, with 15-20 hours for those who aren't doing much hurrying around, with the quest taking 25 hours to really appreciate it... just like Assassin's Creed will take at least 20 or so hours to really get into the game. Remember, when dealing with people over the internet, they will tend to believe friends which will have problems keeping a lie up rather than a faceless person on the internet claiming they are lying and that they are right. Opinions will differ and sometimes, the playing experience is different between games and consoles. I do think that the review was a little on the negative side for Assassin's Creed. No, some people are a little too used to not having the level of realism where a health bar is not present, and some are not used to running away all the time, since few games use that sort of technique but go for the "kill everyone secretly" sort of thing. A lot of people out there do not agree with the reviews being put up by the larger site. If you disagree with their review, make up a review here and I'd be happy to review it through the CRS system. I'd recommend leaving out comments about other sites giving low marks and focus on giving us the pro's and any possible cons you might have. If you want information about writing reviews for CRS, feel free to contact me or post here. To put it into perspective, something about double the size of your last post or a little over the size of mine is what we generally consider minimum size, so if you go over that with a good review looking into variable aspects and a fair sized summary, then I'd be happy to pass it through onto the ranks of user reviews on the site.

re: Mass Effect Review.... BS!!!! |

Well here is my review of the game, feel free to critsize/kill me.
Assassins Creed was a long-awaited game that has kept doubters and fans in the waiting lines. The developers announced the making of this 'trilogy' almost four years ago, and we have been waiting eagerly since. But as time approached, and we began to look at the game, some of us were worried to say the least. So, is this game what it's all hyped up to be? Let's find out. Right from the start, the game puts you in the shoes of a medieval assassin, but not far along the story, you begin to realize it's not what it seems. The game plays two parts basically. Ninety percent of the game you spend your time enjoying the lovely environments as the bad ass Altair; however the other ten percent you spend your time wondering around as Desmond. Revealing this somewhat of a plot-twist in the first five minutes of the game might not have been the best idea, but as you begin to fall into the story, you get so far immersed; you forget that you are actually playing the game. The Story: You play as Altair, but you experience all of this from Desmond's genetic memory. You are inside the animus, which translates those memories into what you see on screen. You follow the story of an assassin who is just as much of a killer as he is cocky. You soon realize that his nature of not following orders will prove to be a costly Endeavour. All of your gear is stripped, because Altair could not listen to someone below his rank. The assassin master gives you a chance to redeem yourself by assassinating nine historical figures that are causing the people even more turmoil. Although the story can be very exciting at first, really doesn't give you a chance to follow along with it, it leaves you stranded, guessing on what might happen next. For some, this might be an interesting prospect, however, for others, not so much. Gameplay: Assassins Creed introduced many new things to the gaming world; such as a unique way of controlling Altair, as well as a new amazing climbing mechanism to boot. The sword fighting is definitely innovative, but isn't well thought out. Although it is true what the developers said, anything that sticks out more than two inches you can climb, but it really just stops there. You can't go inside buildings, swim, or interact with civilians. The entire map or kingdom is indeed huge, but when you can only do a handful of things in this kingdom, it's hard to feel like you have any variety. The side missions lack any diversity: you collect flags, which are very well hidden, and try to exterminate the Templar's. Saving civilians can definitely be fun, but when you have done your deed, and the only reward is the same dialogue over and over, it may seem like it's a waist of your time. However, riding around on your horse, or just free running around beautiful landscapes is fun on its own. The AI isn't impressive, but it's not a let down, there will be occasional moments where you are being chased, and hide in a roof garden, only for the guard to be stupid enough not to take two seconds and look for you. Graphics: The graphics are truly amazing, the character design is smooth and intractable, and it just seems like you are in a living breathing world. However there are noticeable problems, such as clipping, and textures popping up, as well as some game play glitches. These are very minor, however, and will most likely not ruin your experience. The Fighting: For a game that focuses on stealth, you will definitely be doing a fair share of fighting; which could have been forgivable if not for the brain dead enemies. The fighting itself is a great concept, I'm sure most of us having been waiting for a realistic fight system for ages, and this surely delivers. But it really puts you out of the feel of the intensity when you are fighting a group of enemies, and they take turns attacking you. If you feel the need to run away, you will definitely be in for a treat. The chase mechanics are amazing! You will feel that the guards are constantly on your tale, and you will breathe a sigh of relief when you get away. Although the fighting needed a bit of work, this is still a step up from many other fighting mechanics. Another thing that could have needed a bit of work was horse combat, it really doesn't feel like you're hitting anyone, considering there is no sound when you actually land a blow; and navigating the horse around while trying your best to fight off guards can be a tricky, yet a challenging way for gamers to test themselves. Overall: Overall, however, this game breaks many boundaries in the gaming industry, the story takes your breath away, but the end does a really good job of holding your breath. The climbing mechanics and horse riding all look incredibly realistic, but get sidetracked by the limited aspect of things. The fighting definitely needs work, and for some hard core gamers, may seem too easy. The graphics are impressive overall, but the minor tears and glitches keep you from the full experience this game could have given you. In essence it feels like you're playing a demo, more than an actual game. The story is too much of a cliff hanger for average gamers, but I'm sure many people are awaiting the sequel; which I'm sure will be great. The overall phase of the game just seems like it wasn't given enough thought, which will lead some gamers astray; and just the lack of extra material and the motivation to do the extra material is very limited. But, for a review crammed with negative aspects of a terrific game should not be overlooked, this game really is a great experience! And I would recommend buying it and experiencing it for your self! Story: 8.6 Gameplay: 9.2 Fighting: 7.9 Graphics: 9.7 Overall: 8.9 Great! Mish Edit: Review can now be found here! This message was edited by Mishtram(moderator) on Nov 20 2007.
