re: Racism? |

It's honestly more racist to say this game is racist. What, a black man can be President but the race isn't allowed to take over a role that's been held by white people for the majority of a video game's existence?? When do you think we're going to get Indian zombies roaming around Bombay, not soon I'd bet.

quote supreme kaiactually, I thought that comment can't offend anyone. also, I thought some people called this game racist not because they were actually offended.. besides, I didn't have any intention to debate this with someone who thinks differently anyway, I was simply replying to the thread question.

There's never been any problems shooting white people in native white countries? Why should there be a problem here? Just because they're all we've seen so far, doesn't mean to say there's no white zombies later?
Besides, they're zombies - they should die no matter what colour they are.

quote DragonMaster DyneThis is exactly my reasoning too. It's like if there was a GTA set in Ireland and people shouted racism because there were no black people in it. I think it's a bit of a double standard to be honest. Nobody would say a word if it was ^ that case, but racism in games seems to only apply to black people. If that sounds harsh, I'm sorry, but the activists out there who are ''acting'' out because of this so called ''racism'' in gaming and just playing the racism card at every plausible stage are just making themselves less and less credible with every stupid claim. quote DragonMaster DyneI assumed that too, because any video of the game I'd seen, there wasn't a white soul in sight, but then when the demo came out, there's a load of random stupid looking white people in the arsehole of Africa. Very believable. I think Capcom should've stuck to their guns. Anyone with any sort of credibility wouldn't have given a second glance to the racism shite. quote pyramidreaperHe wasn't targeting you. I see this the same way as most people do, if this game were racist then so would all the other games in the series and the location of the game makes it inevitable who the enemies will ultimately be. Chris can't not shoot at these people, he'll just end up being killed as well. It's the same concept as Resident Evil 4, you have all these humans infected with a parasite and regardless of their race it's either be defending yourself or get decapitated by the chainsaw guy or have a huge fork stuck into you. It's nothing personal, it's just a matter of life and death. That's the only logical way to think about it, I mean any normal person would start shooting or get the hell out of the area if they saw a bunch of psychos gathering around to end your life.

I believe this game is horribly racist against blacks, and plan on playing through the entire game without killing the enemies, but instead healing them and apologizing for buying the game.[/overly sensitive douchebag]
If the game stayed exactly the same but with a main character that isn't caucasian, I guarantee that there would be much less controversy. Now if you ask me, that seems a bit racist; only generating all of this heat because the main character is white. quote seanicthehedgehogAre aliens a race? We don't even know if they exist, so why classify them? In all seriousness, it's pretty interesting to see that most people have the same views/ideas that I do, that because Capcom situated their game in Africa doesn't mean that they're being racist. I think they're just diversifying the locations of the games, allowing for more variety.

With the demo, I noticed they got rid of the African woman. Hm, I wonder why. They must have replaced her with someone that's not black. Idiots, this game is not racist! Keep being so sensitive, and Capcom will replace all the Africans with white people. -------------------
