First Screenshots! [Four More Added] |
|
Well, there was one released a few months ago, but whatever.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Interesting. It looks very cool, and the first and last pictures both look beautiful. Otherwise, a bit of a mixed bag, but this game still has a long way to go. I'm very happy with how this game is shaping up, at least in style. Strange to see such a gritty-looking first party game, so far only Retro has done anything like that, but I really like what I see. I see both first and third person aiming, which is interesting. That "Realtime Event Camera" sounds intriguing, and it seems like you will be doing some life-saving, too, and seems like there are some cutscene events here using the motion sensing. Easily my most anticipated Wii game of 2008.

It does look great. No More Heroes is still my most anticipated game of 2008, but this could trump it if the later footage really impresses me.
It looks like there is a "Lungs" meter. I'm assuming that is the gray bar (due to them being the same colour) while the green bar is your health. There is also some form of "Concentration" meter. Will that have something to do with how accurate your aim will be? Or perhaps how efficiently you do things such as save lifes, run away and such? I have no idea, but it's definitely intriguing. Oh, and the CPR part, especially the bar, reminds me a bit of a Wii Fit game, although I doubt Disaster will use the balance board. I can't wait to find out more, but I'm really happy with what Monolith did with this game.

I was actually really looking forward to this, until I saw the graphics. I thought it was a DS game

Really? Because I'd be very grateful if you could show me any DS game that looks like this.
Honestly, this game still has a long time to get better. It doesn't even have a release date at all, unlike Mario Kart, which has a tentative release date. Mario Kart is coming out Spring 2008, and I highly doubt Disaster will even be ready by then. Besides, although some areas clearly need a lot of work, other areas do look great. That's common for a game that still has at least half a year to go, if not closer to a full year. It does look much better than Metroid Prime 3 or Battalion Wars II at this point into their development, and both games look great now in their final builds (or near-final, in the case of BWii).

Sure, that is a good screenshot. But, for example, the third one you posted, when he's looking out at sea.. it's terrible. The tree's and water look awful!

The water looks quite nice. It's not shiny or anything, but it has a muddy, murky look that fits the game. I can see some detail in the water, too, but the screenshot quality isn't very good so it's hard to tell.
The trees do look horrible, but again, these are early screenshots of a game that won't come out for a long, long time. Disliking the game just because the graphics of the earliest build that we have gotten a good look at is ridiculous. Also, early games are always unpolished, so there is much less consistency between different areas. Games often turn out looking much better than the best screenshot, not the same as the worst. Also, Nintendo has a tendency to take the absolute worst still pictures possible. Until we see the game in motion, I suggest reserving your judgement about the visuals. Or do I need to dig up the pictures of Metroid Prime 3's "updated build" stills?

You're right, sorry. But some of the Wii games have been known to be really terrible in graphics. And I had no idea when this game was going to be out, or anything. I had only ever seen one trailer, which looked good, so I thought this game was well into development or something.

Graphics from screenshots are almost always crappier than they appear in game.
I can't wait for this game to be released though!
