Apologies if this has been covered somewhere already, but I didn't see it. I'm working on the Gorons in Death Mountain and only now realized that I missed a Piece of Heart in Forest Temple (the one in the room to the east). When I go back, though, I can't get to the east or west sides of the central room, because the monkeys aren't there.

Is there a way to get to that, or am I just out of luck?

You just need to wait a little bit. In the next temple, after Death Mountain, you get an item that allows you to bypass the areas where you used monkeys.

clawshot iirc correctly can only be gotten after the event with zant / 3rd temple and so you need to wait a long bit

... how about, get the clawshot, leave the temple, go to forest temple, get the chest, then return and proceed to Zant? Although it's faster you're way because you can warp
