okay, bugs I can understand. lame sword fighting I can understand. They were pressed for time.
BUT THE ENDING? I don't want to spoil it, but it's quite a letdown. Anyone else feel this way? ------------------- "Show me how we'll end this, it's alright."

That depends on what type of ending you received after the attle with Otori. If you defeat him (by breaking his sword), you will receuve the good ending, If he defeats you, you will receive the bad ending. The only way to recieve the good ending is to break Otori's sword, do so by using every way to break his sword (Musashi's hammer is a prime example).
