is it actually possible to shoot a person that has a sword....what worked once was i was nearly at a sword fight and before i came ther i reloaded my gun, he was still reloading when i was at him (it was a shotgun...long reloading) and the movie screen type comes...i tried to shoot him but it didn't hit him (it could be my mistake that i missed him) so is it actully possible?

No. There are several points in a game where you can open a door and see a sword fighter standing in your path, but before the short intro movie begins. You can easily shoot at them, but the shots do no damage, at least in my experience.
