I thought people would like this. Plus if we get a community up and running, the IRC channel could be used as a sort of quick Q&A for people in a spot of bother in the game. So without further adue, introducing the Pwnsu network's newest Channel, GTA;

If you're interested, there's 2 ways of joining the Chat.

Setup

» Web Portal:


- First, and easiest is the Web Portal. It can be found here and joining is as simple as click the link » type in your desired nick in the field given » select the #Neoseeker channel from the drop down box and you're in. Once you're in #Neoseeker you need to type "/join #GTA". If we get enough traffic, I'll see about getting the channel added to the drop down box to make access even easier.

» mIRC



• The second, more complex way of joining is to download a client, such as mIRC.
  
  
• The setup for mIRC is as easy as installing any other program, but of course, it takes longer than simply joining via the web portal.
  
  
• Once you've downloaded the program, you need to run the setup to install it as you would any other program. When it's installed and you start it up, you'll be greeted by a prompt to register online stating that you have a 30 day trial period. This period will run out, but you will not be required to pay to continue using mIRC.
  
  
• Once you open mIRC, the screen will be blank. To join the Neoseeker Server [pwnsu] you have to type in the text field "/server irc.pwnsu.com".
  
  
• Once you've successfully connected to the server, you then need to type "/join #GTA" to get to the Music channel. All of these options can be set as default from your tools » options menu in mIRC so that when the program opens it auto joins the server and your desired channel.

Rules

» Spamming/fooding:

- Simply put, don't do it. Most of the other channels have systems in place whereby if you repeat the same line however many times you're auto kicked from the channel. I trust we won't need that, but if the need arises, I'm sure it can be implemented quite easily.


» Flaming:

- Again, like Neo, flaming is not welcome. You come to IRC of your own free will and it pretty much goes without saying that you don't want to be given trouble over your opinions or views, so take this approach for everyone else, mutual respect, and you'll get on fine.


» Trolling:

- The GTA channel, even though Neo's rules don't apply because IRC isn't owned by Neo, still uses the same general ruleset. Because of this, trolling is obviously a no-no. We're always aiming to make IRC channels and the forums themselves happy and friendly places to be where we can all have a laugh and talk about our common interest. All trolling does is make it impossible to do so and chances are you will be kicked and possible banned if you continue to break the rules set out by the admin.

Misc

» Registering your nick:


- To change your nick in IRC, simply type "/nick [Name]", leaving out the inverted commas. The purpose of registering your nick is so nobody can impersonate you by taking your nick. It's esentially the same thing as registering on Neo. Once you register on IRC, you have a password. It's as simple as typing "/ns register [password] [email address]". Once you have done this, you will be prompted to identify each time you log in, simply type "/identify [Password]" to do so.



» Need help?


- The IRCops for the Pwnsu server are Angyles, Dynamite and Xenctuary. If there's something you need to know about, I'm sure they'd be more than happy to help and you can message them by simply typing "/msg [username] [message]", which will open a private message window with them.
