I know you can get platinum medals in Wii Play (I have 3

I got two. One in picking up spares (get all 20) and Spin Control (20 again if I remember correctly).

Yep, this FAQ has the scores you need to get in order to get platinum medals. I'll have to give the training modes more of a shot since I have mostly gold medals.
