For you punch combinations I suggest very fast jabs and the like. The reason is, when you enable the godhand, those attacks will be able to be inputted and chained much faster than any other, allowing you to get in as many hits as you can press the button during the time GH' is enabled.
Also keep a good popup move (knocks the enemy into the air), a sweep move (trip them), and a knockback move (knocks them far away). For the popup I use what looks like a simple, quick, and chargeable uppercut. For the sweep type move I have this simple side leg kick that can be used numerous times quickly after tapping dodge+left and dodge+right in quick succession. For the knockback move I have the dropkick you start off with. Very balanced so far, haven't needed to change it up at all. ------------------- ![]()

Dragon Kick is one of my faves for massive damage, Zen Revival is good if you are desperate for recovery. I also the Kung Fu Bamba (Or something like that), it looks impressive and quite damaging.

When you beat the game, buy techniques with "god" in its name. example: god jab : hell fast and it does 20 damage. there is much more too.

The "Yes Ma'am" punch (or something similar to that) is a great move to use. It was a big part of me being able to defeat the doppleganger at the final battle arena level.

Chain Yanker roulette plus Yes Man Kablaam to charge your TP gauge; I've currently got alternating left/right punches in my combo set. Hand Plant Kick, Palm Smash, Fist of Justice, High Side Kick, and the Shaolin Blast roulette (if you have the cash) are all very useful items to have. Make sure you have a Guard Breaker attack set up as well...it's essential against some of the elite thugs.
Good luck to you! | |

Good point, Mushroom. A guard breaker is necessary for a lot of fights in the game. I stick with one of the quicker ones myself. No use in using a slow one.

For the Square combo, the first two moves should be single-hitters (I recommend a Left Jab and a Straight since they're the fastest), then throw on some quick multi-hitters (like Elbow Spin, Stinging Bee, etc.). Generally, the easiest way to deal with lone enemies is to do 1-2 quick hits followed by a guard-breaking attack, a duck/sway (forward on the right stick) or sidestep to cancel the recovery, and repeat until the enemy's guard is broken.
For the guard-breaking attack, I'd recommend plain old Guard Break, Right High Knee, or Side Swipe. If you have access to the "God" moves, use Godly Chop. As for other moves, it depends on your play style and what you want to do. Before you get too stuck on what moves you should set, I'd highly recommend learning the controls (especially the right stick) and Gene's built-in moves. In particular, sweeping and ducking/swaying are crucial aspects of high-level play that a lot of new players overlook/don't notice. Try looking through this guy's videos to get some ideas: http://www.youtube.com/profile_videos?user=enraiharuka&p=r Anyways, if you're going for sheer damage output, you might try Drunken Fist or Overhead Blow, which you can throw out quite fast via up/side-dodging to cancel their recovery times. Right Roundhouse Kick+side-dodging can also be good against some enemies, though it's best used in conjunction with sweeping, in my opinion. There's a fairly well-known trick you can do with High Side Kick (any version). When the enemy is dizzy, airbourne, guard-broken, or countered, High Side Kick will launch them. If you kick the enemy against a wall and up-dodge to cancel the recovery time, you can do another High Side Kick before they hit the ground and kick them against the wall again. You can repeat this over and over, though it's easiest to do in a corner; most enemies can recover in mid-air, and that'll often require you to side-dodge to keep them in the combo. If you're new to the game and having a lot of trouble, you might try moves that have the "Evade High Attack" property (the term "high" can be misleading, here; think "mid-to-high", instead), like Drunken Twist/Fall and Half Moon Kick. There are also some moves, like Hand Plant Kick, that don't have the property but do give you a some i-frames against such attacks. However, be careful with these if you're wanting to eventually play at a high level, because they might teach you to play in such a manner that you're utterly helpless without them. If you know how to use them, "Juggle Enemy" moves allow for some very effective and flashy combos, and they're great for crowd-control thanks to Gene's built-in anti-air moves (especially the mid-air roundhouse). I'm personally a big fan of Stomping Fist+Charged Punch (uncharged), and Hand Plant Kick (easy to score counter hits with). Gene also has a two part (first part is chargeable) built-in juggle skill you can use by pressing forward+Triangle on a downed enemy. Personally, I find "Launch Enemy" moves to be the least useful type in general. On Level DIE, most enemies don't get launched unless it's a counter hit, you break their guard first, they're dizzy, or they're in the air; all the same restrictions as "weak launchers" like High Side Kick, but slower. Of course, if you try them out and find them useful, then by all means, use them. ------------------- quote Zero and X

quote Order66I've only reached Stage 5 and I love using moves which launch the enemy so I can perform juggle combos on them (though they can still recover and backflip away from them). At the moment I like doing this after guard breaking an opponent: Heel Drop (floater) Chin Music Long Straight 3 Elbow Vortex Sugar Gene Combo Overhead Blow Drunken Sweep. The second hit of the three–hit Drunken Sweep never seems to connect, only the first and third do. I also have another similar setup, but ending with Mach Speed Jab Hand Plant Kick Drunken Fall, which knocks the enemy back, linking nicely after the HPK relaunch.

I've reached the next stage after facing some rather fabulous boss fights. I now have a rather fabulous combo/attack string which goes like this:
first hit of One–Two Punch Heel Drop Floating Butterfly Long Straight 3 Elbow Vortex Sugar Gene Combo Rocket Uppercut Rolling Sobat The first hit of One–Two Punch launches the enemy into the air, at which point I sway cancel and go into the Heel Drop floater, followed by the attacks on the Square button. Rocket Uppercut relaunches the opponent, and Rolling Sobat knocks them back. Great stuff! It does a total of 175 points of damage. -------------------

I'm glad to see another God Hand fan for a change.
Pretty good combos except I usually keep the juggle moves out of my main combo so that when it comes time to just unload punches on a boss in God Hand mode, they wont fall back and I lose time to lay the smack down.

I know exactly what you mean, but I can never really find an all–purpose attack string for both individual opponents and crowd control. I wish you could store movesets in this game, like with customising programmable effects pedals. I've got a great combo I use for crowd control, with lots of juggles and knockback launchers, which of course I can interrupt by using moves on the other face buttons. In fact, it let me beat the midget douchebag 5 viewtiful joe power rangers with ease in our second encounter:
Left Jab 3 Stomping Fist Rocket Uppercut Rolling Sobat Heel Drop Forearm Smash 1. It makes enemies go flying all over the screen. Hilarious! I have to change it radically if I want to wail on a boss in Godhand mode though. What setups do you have for Gene? quote Wolfwood824Thanks for linking that user. My good lord, just check out this flawless Azel 1 fight in Hard mode. Unbelievable! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sirJRnISc7E&fmt=18 This message was edited by Kodanshi on Feb 11 2009.
