Rumours have been speculating around the internet like wildfire that there will be eventually, a Half-Life 3. Recently, it's been "officially" stated that these episodes ARE Half-Life 3. Episode 2 may be the last Half Life after watching it better confirms that this may be the end of Half-Life and Gordon Freeman's story. Whether that means Half-Life 4 will revolve around someone else or be a prequel of sorts I don't know. Also been hearing how a lot of people are angry if this is Half-Life 3 which slightly pisses me off. WHAT MORE CAN THEY DO WITH THE GRAPHICS? I mean Half-Life 2 in terms of graphics is about as good as it gets, I think some people were expecting some HUGE graphical update for Half-Life 3 but sorry to break it to you but there's not.

Any ideas of what you think will happen in Half-Life Episode 2? I know from the trailer that they're "taking back their world" and they will "not lose again". Sounds like a climax to me. I hope it is actually, we've been following Gordon for a little too long, it's time for his story to end .

This is quite old news, in fact, it was confirmed around the time Episode 1 was released.

As for what happens in Episode 2, all I know is that it starts out right where Episode 1 ended and Alyx remains on your side the entire time. You apparently meet some new people and the relation between Alyx and the G-Man is explained further. I don't think anything more is known at this moment.

Graphics-wise, though the Source-engine is probably one of the best engines out there judging by the scalability and the fact it supports practically all new technologies, it can get better; Unreal Engine 3 and Cryengine 2 anyone?
I believe Episode two updates the engine with some new stuff like motion blur and depth of field though.

Not everyone knows about it though, I know someone is going to comment and say "I DO L33T! L0L! LMFAO!", but note I said: Not everyone knows about this so this infact is not old news to some but to others may be considered as such. Anyway, back on subject.

The Unreal Engine isn't all that much better, I might edit this post with some comparison screenshots eventually but not right now. As for the Cryengine 2, never heard of that, sounds kind of dumb actually . But thanks for filling me in on what you know, I should edit the title with a *spoiler tag*...

Go to the Steam forums, this is old old old news, valve are going to see how the last 2 episodes of HL2 pan out first

Apparently there is goin to be an episode 3. hopefully this will end the cliffhangers in the half-life series (although they are encredibly good!!)

Wow, First off, shortly after the release of HL2, Value released their plans for an episodic release. There is going to be an episode 3, they have said that from the start and haven't changed that. As for a third Half Life, Valve has been too busy with the whole "Orange Box" set and Episode 3, that anything said about a third Half Life right now can be taken with a grain of salt. It's probably something they are discussing, but they have no idea if it will actually happen or not. So, Just hold off on conversation until the release of Episode 3 or until Valve give a formal statement.
