My Mage Casting -- Not Remembering |
|
Hi guys,
Yet another question for you guys. When my mages cast spells, usually I order them right away to do another one. Now my other mages/druid/clerics leap to it right away without any problem, but my own mage tends to forget I have ordered a spell of him after he casts one and wanders into battle. Is this script oriented? Can I fix it by changing to a different script?

The only thing I can think of, if you are doing the exact same thing all the time, is a bug. Are you sure you are waiting long enough after selecting the first spell to select the second one? If you are, then as I say it's probably a bug in the script.

Usually he gets the same time, if not more time, since the casting of the last spell. For example, right after Aerie casts a Melf's Acid Arrow I order her to use Magic Missile and she will have the wait period, but she will do it. My mage, however, will use Melf's Acid Arrow, will be ordered to use Magic Missile, and will instead take up his quarter staff and charge into combat after the wait period instead of casting magic missile.

Have you checked the scripts for your party? Maybe Aerie is on the strict no combat script where as your mage is on one that encourages melee fighting.

I have checked, and all three of my mages are on the same combat scripts. I'm going to be switching around my scripts again during the next time I play it to see if that fixes it, just is a little bit of a bother to have to really pay close attention to my mage when the rest of my folks are fighting, dying and casting spells too.

If you first order your mage to cast magic missile and then accidentally choose the whole group and attack your opponent, your mage will follow the latest order given. (Being part of the group as a whole, that is the attack order.) So once you've ordered your mage to cast a spell, use shift-click to select the others that just attack him. If this wasn't the problem then I'll kindly shut up.

No, I see where you are going with it, but I select characters individually when sending out orders so I don't do that -- I micromanage in combat to the max. =P

If it's still an issue then try the age old trick of reinstall. I would trust that you are smart enough to back up your saves first.

I don't know what that causes then, perhaps a bug of some sort.
You could try and give him a ranged weapon to at least make sure he doesn't start acting as the tank of the party. ------------------- Kick the can, kick the can, skip and blackjack Steal a car and ring a round-rosey Rock and roll, candyland, boogeyman Run away and give me your sneakers

My mage has horrible aim, and would probably try to dart them right in the face at point blank range anyways. =P
Luckily for me, this seems to have randomly fixed itself when I was reordering my party a bit, so problem solved!
