how do the fishing rods work??dumb question i know but every time i use them they always escape.

when you start to fish you will first get the message "you got a bite............."and will be followed by dots you have got to press the A button at the end,
then when it says "the hooked pokemon attacked"
you have got it in a battle

it takes time to get it exatly right

Yeah, you're wrong.

All you get are trails of elipses (or "dots" for those who don't know your English terms). When the message, "Oh! A Bite!" appears, you press A. And as you get better rods, you'll be pushing that button more often.

It's not that you need catlike reflexes, but the message is still fast.
