A Different Vice |
|
Now it's likely that this game will be set in a different time period than Vice City on the PS2 was. Bearing that in mind, what do you expect to be different in the city from the original?
If it's set in the present day then I'd expect quite a huge amount of the city to be different, all the construction work would be finished and there would be different buildings everywhere. 20 years would have passed so a lot could have changed. ------------------- ![]() Distributing Cockslaps Since 2004 Credit: Oz's Mobile

Hmm if it's set more towards our time period I'd expect to see more tall buildings, less green space and buildings in general, Little Havana to be more busy and less derelict.
Maybe lots of tourist peds as well? ------------------- ![]()

i wonder what became of the Hyman condo...
my guess is that the Vercetti estate is still their, but mabye the Malibu has been changed, The mall could have been knocked down, Little Havana could have been engulfed in full scale gang war and be more like a worse Grove street -------------------

I would most likely expect car models to be changed. Like Banshee for example. It would look more similar to GTAIII's Banshee.

I think a lot depends on when it is set. If it is in the Seventies or late Nineties, then the city will probably have changed a lot more, because a lot of time will have passed since Vice, or it will be about a decade before Vice City (PS2) took place. If it is within a couple of years of the previous Vice City, which is what I expect by the way, then you will see very subtle changes, like you had to LC in LCS, versus GTA III.

the chances are that it will be a few years before, going by Rockstar behaviour, but i for one would much rather see a radically changed VC than a subtle change, its more like a new place if you change it a lot

They won't do it. In the first place, they are using an already proven city, so they will only change a few subtle things. Secondly, cities do not change a whole lot in just a couple of years, mostky store fronts, construction sites being completed and that sort of thing.

i know they won't do it *sob*
but as long as it has changed enough, a bit more than LCS though, it was good to see Fort Staunton before it died, and the ferry but those were the only cool places, oh and the dirt track they need to change at least one sizeable chunk, mabye radically alter the gang area by saying they moved away and the area is being rebuilt... -------------------

Yeah and that is exactly what they did in LCS. I mean Fort Staunton was a biggie, and so was the awesome dirtbike trail in Harwood! I LOVED the Northern road along Shoreside, and the landmark properties that changed hands in the game.

I think if they do seriously change anything it'll be Little Havana/Haiti since that was a dump. I'd like to see more stuff on the beach as well, since that was just basically a big empty space.

I hope its around 1994/1995, after San Andreas, but before Liberty City stories.
Could make an interesting storyline and enviroment with all of the building sites completed. I agree that the beach should be turned into something a bit more exciting. The derelict gang houses on Prawn Island should be demolised and changed. ------------------- ![]()

Well if it's set after the original, Avery's probably bought all those, had them restored and turned it into a gated community.

quote The Getaway fan 14 I agree about the time period, but remember that there has to be slums, and Little Haiti, Little Havana and Prawn Island should stay that way, with only a few minor changes. ------------------- ![]() It's official. re: A Different Vice |

Well, now that we know it's only 2 years before Vice, I don't think that much will be different. OK, so some buildings might not be complete yet, and the Chunder Wheel (which I'm guessing we'll have to destroy in a mission) will be there. Most things will be the same - because the time period is the same, most differences will be minor. Any major differences will be few and far between. We know that Lazlow can't DJ a radio station - that's right no Lazlow on V-Rock - because in VC, he said "I've only been in Vice City a few months now" so any appearance from him will be a brief cameo. Maybe the mall won't be built and the construction sites from Vice definitely won't be there, but those would probably be the only huge differences. Apart from that, I'm looking forward to seeing Vice how I remember it.
