i have pkmn silver and yellow and was trying to trade some pokemon over to yellow. when i got into the time capsule and clicked the computer thing it said PLEASE WAIT like it always does and the yellow trade page loaded before silver (silver actually never loaded at all) and when it did the page was all weird with symbols and different pokemon. i recall seeing an alakazam, rhydon, "trainer pokemon", MISSINGNO., etc. half of them i didn't even own. i couldn't exit and had to restart my gameboy. it hasn't happened since. also, scrolling down made a whole lot more pokemon show up but the pokemon missingno always stayed in its place

i still puzzled at why missingno was in there and how? it was supposed to be removed. i wish i had taken a picture

EDIT. it happened again!!! okay this time silver didn't load (again) but yellow still traded. when i got back to the the trading page it went like this
(€ stands for a symbol that i can't type in)

OMANYTE
€€€TRAINER POKE'
MISSINGNO
then when i pressed b a different page loaded but it was just missingno. but it wasn't capitolized
then my friend knock the batteries out of my GB and i couldn't see much else. i'll report back soon

are you trying to trade a pokemon that doesnt exists in the 1st generation?

Example : *You find an.. hoothoot!( example)* Yay, that's awesome! but it doesnt exists in the first gen, so it could... i dont know, stop your game?

Now continuing, it is just a theory, but i think that if you trade a pokemon from silver to yellow and it doesnt exists in the generation 1, the game would stop, BUT. its just a theory

Missingno does exist in Yellow, you just can't encounter it the way you did in Red and Blue. You have to use the Mew glitch to find one.

Glitch pokemon are still in the system as empty index numbers, though. What you encountered was a simple glitch, there's no other explanation needed. They're very common in these games. Just don't play around with it or you could easily erase your save file and corrupt your game cartridge, making it unplayable.
