Help on Taking Screenshots Posting an IMAGE. Enter the following markup: [*img]http://djrampella.tripod.ca/5-1.jpg[*/img] Without the *'s, the above markup would result in: ![]() Posting a Linked Image Here's the markup needed: [*img link=http://www.tinrib.com]http://djrampella.tripod.ca/5-1.jpg[*/img] Without the *'s, we get: ![]() NOTE: When posting the address of an Image, always include the http://, and the file extension (.jpg etc) How to put a picture under your name(avatar) Well, due to the amount of people asking how to have an avatar, I felt like I'll post the steps here. First, click prefs on the top of the page. Then, click scroll down and click Edit your profile pic (avatar) here, and then upload your pic from your computer, and make sure it is no bigger than 25kb in size, no larger than 65 by 65 pixels, and that it is either in jpeg or gif format. Then make sure that in the prefs section, make sure under the customize settings section, you have yes selected for Include Profile Pic in Forum postings. Then, your avatar should show up underneath your name. Signature Help Ok, to get a signature to show up underneath everyone of your posts, ... First, click prefs at the top of the page(or link) Next, scroll down to the customize settings section, and in the text box labeled Signature, put what you want in your signature there. Then, to make sure that your signature is always clicked when you post a message, scroll down to the Posting Form Preferences section, and click yes next to Select Signature by Default. Now you should have a signature. If anyone still has problems with any of these, go ahead and send me a NeoPM. Note: I do not have the game yet, so some of the in game things I posted about may not be correct, so if anything I posted is wrong, go ahead and tell me. Help courtesy of Random and fanatic. re: Lots of help |
quote fanaticYou can get a full size picture link to imagestation. In the storage bin where all your uploads go, on the picture you want, click the edit image button. A new window will open with a larger image to edit and a small version of it. Once they have loaded, click preview at the top right. Another new window will open with your full size picture in it, simply copy the address in the address bar and paste it in your [img][/img] brackets. Now you have your full size picture on neoseeker. Hope that helped someone. -------------------

Dynamite's Markup/General Help |
|
Although there is already the official markup help page, I feel that a markup post is needed. In all examples below, replace the () type of brackets with the [] type. To make text appear bold, you will need to use this piece of markup: (b)Bold text(/b) The result of this piece markup would be: Bold text. If you forget the correct markup tag to use when you want to make text bold or you just don't want to type it out, click the button which can be found just under the "message" section when starting a thread or posting a reply. To make text appear in italics, you will need to use this piece of markup: (i)This text is italic(/i) The result of this piece markup would be: This text is italic. If you forget the correct markup tag to use when you want to italicize text, or you just don't want to type it out, click the button which can be found just under the "message" section when starting a thread or posting a reply. To make text appear underlined, you will need to use this piece of markup: (u)Underlined text(/u) The result of this piece markup would be: Underlined text. If you forget the correct markup tag to use when you want to underline text, or you just don't want to type it out, click the button which can be found just under the "message" section when starting a thread or posting a reply. There are two types of quotes, the first type is the standard way in which the text that you are quoting is between two lines. Use this piece of markup for the standard quoting method: (q)This is where the actual quote goes.(/q) This would result in: quoteInstead of typing the basic quote tags out all of the time, you could always use the button under the "message" window when posting a reply to a thread or when you are creating your own.The other type of quote would be an advanced quote which displayes the originator's name above their quote. To do this, you will need to use this piece of markup: (q)(originator=Name of originator goes here)Their quote goes in this space(/q) The result of this markup would be: quote Name of originator goes hereAn easier method of quoting someone in the forum would be to click the " There are two methods of linking in the forum. One type would be to just display the address that you wish to link to. To create a "clickable" link, you will have to use this piece of markup: (link)http://www.neoseeker.com(/link) It will look like this when posted: http://www.neoseeker.com If you need to link to a thread, then obviously this method is not very practical as thread URLs are quite long so the best method would be to turn a word into a hyperlink. To do this, just use these markup tags: (I will link a word to the GTA3 Topic Listings Thread in this example) (link name=GTA3 Forum Topic Listings)http://www.neoseeker.com/forums/index.php?fn=view_thread&t=77918(/link) The link would look like this when posted: GTA3 Forum Topic Listings As writing the markup for this everytime would be difficult if you didn't know the correct markup tags well, you can always click this button: which is the forth button along under the window that you write the text for a reply in. When you click this button, the advanced linking markup tags come up in the window where you are writing your reply and all you need to do is fill in the correct information for the link.To change the color of your font, then this piece of markup will be required: (this example will show how to turn text red) (color=red)Red text will appear here(/color) This will look like this in the forum: Red text will appear here There are many other colors that can be used on the Neoseeker site apart from red. For a list of these colors, click this drop-down menu: . When you have selected a color that you wish to use, click on it from this list and the correct markup tags should appear in the "message" window for you.To make a bullet point in a post, simply use this piece of markup: (li) The result of this would be: Sometimes, you may wish to allign text in a post to the right, left or center. In the example below, I will show you how to center text in a post, however, you can also allign text to the right or left of a post by replacing the word "center" after the "div align=" to "left" or "right".. (div align=center)Centered text(/div) After replacing the () type of brackets with the [] type, the result would be: Centered text How do you change the font size? Yes you guessed it, with a piece of markup! The are three sizes to choose from and the default size is 2 which is medium. Large text would be obtained by replacing the number "1" in the example below to a number "3". (size=1)Size one text (small)(/size) When you have replaced those brackets, the result of this markup would be: Size one text (small). Using smilies in the forum can be great fun and it also adds life to the forum, however these smilies should be used in moderation and not abused. When replying to a thread or starting a thread, you will notice that in the bottom right hand corner, there is a selection of smilies for you to choose from. All you have to do to use them is click one and it will appear in basic forum in the message window. When the message is posted in the forum, the actual smilie will be displayed instead of colons and brackets. Additional smilies can be viewed by {clicking here}, or by clicking the link just to the right of the selection of smilies when replying/starting a thread. As signatures have been discussed in previous posts in this thread, I will not go into detail however, I would just like to address the most common cause of the question: "Why isn't my signature showing up in a post?". If you have made a signature correctly and you cannot understand why it is not being appended to posts, then the probable cause is that the box just above the "Submit" button is not ticked. This box looks like this: and it must be ticked for your signature to appear on your posts. When you have finished writing your post, all you have to do is click the button and your post/thread will be added to the thread/forum in seconds. Before you click the "submit" button though, you should firstly make sure that everything is spelt correctly in your post. To have Neoseeker do this automatically, click the button which is located to the far left of the "Submit" button. If a mistake is found, a suggestion of what the word is suppose to be will be presented to you and you will have the option of changing it after all, what good is a post in the forum that nobody can read? So, you have checked your spelling and you think you are ready to post but there is one more thing that you should do before you click that "Submit" button, you should look at a preview of what your post is going to look like to make sure that markup has been used correctly. "How on Earth do I do this!?" I hear you cry! Simple. All you have to do is click the button which can be found on the "Submit" button's immediate right.Have you just posted and noticed that you have made an spelling error or a markup error? Don't panic! Many people see that they have made a mistake and they just re-write the correct version in a new post. THIS IS NOT NECESSARY! In the bottom right hand corner of your post, you should see a " As some experienced Neoseeker members and myself will tell you, you will always find troublemakers in popular forums. Many troublemakers wait until forum moderators go offline so they are free to cause trouble in a forum without the risk of their posts being deleted instantly however, what they sometimes forget is that we as members have the power to take their posts out of public view so only moderators can see what is included in them. If you see an offensive post or a post which may be offensive to others, click on the " The term "NeoPM" means "Neoseeker Private Message". It is used to communicate directly with another member of Neoseeker and is only available for members. Your {Inbox} can be accessed by clicking "my.neoforum" which is at the top of the page when you are logged in. After you click that, you should see a link to your inbox in the top right hand corner of the window. If you have recieved a new NeoPM, you will see this icon: To send a NeoPM to another member, you can do it one of two ways. The first way is to find one of the members posts and look under their name. If you see this icon: Thank you for reading and I hope that my information has helped. TNT Note: If you want to know something that is not covered in this post, then please do not hesitate to NeoPM me and I will add the information that you require to this post. Don't even think about reporting this post again...¬_¬ -Dynamite This message was edited by Dynamite on Dec 07 2002. | |
