I've got a problem with my controller. I bought a Belkin N45 controller (dual analog, 4 shoulder buttons) and its set up very much like the ps2 controller. However, at first when I set it up, the right analog was all screwed up (push up, the character would look left, push right, the character would look down, etc.) I have been trying to get the configuration right in the editor but haven't been successful. I set the right analog so that when I move it side to side, the controller follows the x-axis, and when I move it up and down, it follows the Y-axis, but now it doesn't work at all. help?

I have a strange probleum, and I can not find a post on here where anyone else has had the same prob. I can only get a wanted leval of 4. No matter what I do or how hard I try. I have killed hundreds of police, shoot like 18 helicpoters out of the sky, and blown up several dozen police cars and swat vans, I rampaged for like 45 min. And can not get over 4 stars, no F.B.I. or military. It used to, before it seemed that if I was being chased and shot down the heli. and a few cops, all hell would brake loose and fbi cars would come out of the woodwork. I noticed it after I applied the new patch, but do not know if that is the prob. I have uninstalled and reinsalled many times but it is still there,(cheats or not). I do notice that all my games and options were saved even after a complete uninstall and making sure every referance to GTA is gone. Even the recycle bin is emptied. Any one know how to erase all option saves, or anyone know how this happend or how to fix it? It sucks not being able to be chased by tanks.

smoke master you have to complete a certain mission before you can get 5 or 6 stars, i forgot what mission it is though, but its in the staunton island

This is no glitch, this is built into the game intentionally. You cannot obtain a wanted level of 5 until after you complete Salvatore Leone's mission, "Last Requests". You cannot obtain a wanted level of 6 until after you complete Donald Love's "A Drop in the Ocean" mission.

Oh I see, I could have swore I had been chased by fbi before "last requests" But I have been known to be very wrong. Thank you for the fast reply:)

A 128-MB GeForce 4 Ti is probably your best bet. Please stop screaming (posting with all caps), it's very impolite and you tend to do it quite a lot.

I gotta a question that is bugging the crap out of me. For some reason when i get into a car and start moving it shows my car in the reverse angle (I am looking backwards instead of frontwards, where I should be). I have played around with the camera views but it doesnt help, I have to get out of the car and back in to get the correct view. Is there a button that I need to push in order to make the camera view switch around to whatever direction I am going? Even when it does give me the right view, if i want to reverse, the camera doesnt switch to reverse, please help quick my computer is in danger of miraculously flying out the window. I am playin on pc, any advise or insight would be excellent

The only thing that I can think of is to check if your mouse wheel is stuck down. If it is, then fix it. If it isn't, then make it stick down; that's the only way you'll be able to see frontwards. The only way that I can think of, anyway.

-Second:CHECK YOUR KEYBORD AND MOUSE, IF THERE ISN'T ANY BUTTON STUCKED, LIKE MEWDUDE SAID!
-Tirth: CHECK IF YOU HAVE ANY PROBLEMS IN OTHER PROGRAMS/GAMES! (if so: your keybord or mouse is or not pluged in good or installed well, or it's broken!)

PROBLEM WITH MOTHERBOARD-BASED SOUND CHIPSET

Hey everybody, I seem to have run into a little dillemma.
I've got a motherboard-based sound chipset (an Avance AC97) and my game crashes less than half a minute into the game.

So I fire up the readme, and surprise surprise motherboard-based sound chipsets are a no-no. It tells me to open DXDIAG, and run the sound tests, and then select a software buffer.

Here's the problem. I have no idea in hell how to do that. I've looked everwhere, I've called in an expert, and still I can't find a way to select a software buffer and make the problem fly away.

I've tried selecting dssoftware mode in the audio section of the GTA 3 options menu, but the problem remains.

So please, someone, anyone, please, help me out. If I can't play this game I will go insane and start a psychopathic rampage.

Try opening up the Run feature [Start/Run] (At the bottom left side of the screen) and type in that "DXDIALOG" or whatever it is in. It should find it (hopefully).
