re: **General In Game Problem Thread

Ah... no no no. I am able to run DXDIAG, sorry if I was a little unclear on that. The problem is that it only runs the tests -- It does not present me with the option of switching to a software buffer at all.
Again, any help would be appreciated.

re: **General In Game Problem Thread

OKay on both my desktops which I built to be incredible machines, GTA 3 runs awesome with no problems at even very high resolutions. However my laptop runs very choppy. Basically whenever anything major is going on like cop chases with lots of cars, sirens, firing weapons and screaming people the game lags and slows down something fierce.

Now here's the thing. I know that DMA said that Laptops aren't really "Supported" and I would normally give up here, except that at the lowest resolution, and all backround programs turned off, it used to run just fine on my laptop. It is an 1100 MHZ P4 with a Geforce II card, 512 MB RAM and 30 GB HD space. The GeForce card only has 16 MB so I assume thats why it doesnt run on a higher Res. I tried turning trails off and the draw distance way down but still I cannot get the game to run the way it used to when I first installed it.

Any suggestions? Maybe something got corrupted? Oh and I am running Windows XP, which I know kind of sucks for this game. Maybe a file got corrupted? Could there be some hidden stuff running or something even though I turn everything off in the task manager? I am considering just uninstalling it and reinstalling it to see if that helps.

What are your thoughts? THANKS

Could you be a little more specific? Do you mean when you are using a flame thrower or molotov cocktail? What do you mean by looking "in the far back ground" and being able to see it? Are your drivers all the latest versions?

Chiro I was doing a mod to my game today and I had just reinstalled it, and opened the GTA3 Reshack program to look for the file I was going to edit....and it didn't exist, at least not until after I had loaded the game for the first time. I think after you play the first time, some files are created or something and your problem may have something to do with that.

Anyone have the original pedstats.dat file? I want to make it so no gangs will attack me when I drive through their turf, but they will fight back if I attack them.

re: **General In Game Problem Thread

Click on "Start"-->"run"--> Type in "dxdiag" (without the quotes), hit "OK" and wait for it to load. Now look at the bottom of the dialogue box, and you will see the DirectX Version you're running.
