re: **General In Game Problem Thread

Guy in trouble here!
OK.
I bought GTa3 yesterday, and it's the correct version (PAL), and when I start a new game, The intro Movie comes up (the bit where you and Catalina rob the bank and she shoots you) and I click it to skip, and the next screen comes up (The blue screen with all the characters from Portland) and it doesn't go any further.
It's not an illegal copy or anything, it just stops responding on that screen.
Can anyone help?

re: **General In Game Problem Thread

the problem:

the frame rate is super low and the graphics looks very blurry and i don't really know why this happened (P4 1.3, GeForce2 and a 128RD ram) i can't really play the game since it would freeze whenever i hop into a car and start driving or go into big area with many cars

anybody knows how to fix that?

sorry forgot to tell you that I am running windows xp proffessional. I have also read through the article in one of the posts above and I do have the correct versions of directx, nvdia-drivers etc...

and during the minute that the game runs it works just fine... =/
I am having the exact same problem. The game loads perfectly fine I can drive and walk around for about 45-60 seconds then it just freezes, ( but ther music still plays) and i hit the escape key and it boots me back to the windows desktop. Just like madwax said for the few secs it runs for it runs perfectly fine. I have updated video drivers, sounds drivers, mobo drivers, I installed SP2 ( cause I'm running Win2k), I did anything ANY suggested in any forum. Please help me, and madwax. We need senseless violence and crime!

My Specs are:
AMD 1.1
392 MB ram
Geforec 2 Ti 64mb
40 gb HD
Sound Blaster Live 5.1
I am running Windows 2000.

Please any help is greatly appreciated.

I am having a similar problem in the sense that the game runs very smoothly but around 15 seconds later, the game will just crash; ie. it will simply go back to windows. This happens on both XP and 98. Any suggestions ?

I run both XP and windows 98.

re: **General In Game Problem Thread

Perhaps a more detailed explanation is necessary ...

When I start the game, all is well. When I play, it's smooth
and all but once I start driving, about 5 seconds later, the
game seems like it begins to slow down and speed up (frames-
wise) until it crashes. I have the latest drivers and would
like to mention I tried it with the previous ones as well...

Any thoughts ?

re: **General In Game Problem Thread

I am seeing alot of people having this very problem in many other forums, I thought it may of had something to do with the Win2k/XP kernell, but you have 98 so it can't be that. Hopefully we can solve this soon.

re: **General In Game Problem Thread

**Update**

I've played around with the settings and I can safely say my
problem isn't performance related... ie. it runs smoothly &
all seems well until I jump in the car (with 8ball) and go
towards the town: it seems as though something is "slowing"
down smoothly to slow motion for half a second and then it
resumes normal speed... it does this for an undetermined
amount of time and then crashes at random times. Regardless
of what I do until I go beyond the initial bridge, IT DOES
NOT CRASH.

This problem happens in windows XP and 98.

Interesting, isn't it ?

re: **General In Game Problem Thread

Try downloading an older version of the Nvidia driver. Sometimes the newer driver is not compatible with your computer causing your game to freeze or crash. Click here to download your video driver.
