eh, at the beginning of the game i believe it gives you an overview of what happened in the last two games, and that should be enough, but its better to have played 1 and 2, because you get bonuses.

I would suggest playing through 3, while still searching for 1 and 2

Hey it would be great if you play both vol. 1 and 2. Because the storyline of these games are really interesting. I'm sure you don't wanna miss it, right?

And as for me, I've done playing all .hack//G.U. volumes and they are really interesting.
Of course I won't forget to play this game anytime

i played the vol.1 and vol.3 but i cant see any vol. 2 in the stalls in my place

They're only supposed to be making 3 volumes of GU, though I suspect like with Sign, the first 4 PS2 games (Infection-Quarantine), Legend of Twilight, and Roots, they'll continue making games/anime in the franchise. I'd like to see them make AI Buster into a game personally, the story of the beta version of The World.
