I've just started playing around with this but wasn't getting any results so I thought I would ask the masses. I wanted to create the worlds ugliest or strangest looking dog through breeding. I was starting with a small dog and a large dog but every time I breed them I just get puppies that look identical to the mom (the small dog) and have no looks in common with their father.

So before I go any farther with this trial I was wondering if puppies in this game will take on the appearance parameters of both their parents (like with human sim babies) or if they will always look like their mother.

I know I can just create a custom breed in the create a dog screen, but it's more fun to do it the mother nature way.

So I've answered my own question with a bit of experimentation. The dogs will take on the genetics of their parents. However I think you have to keep it to small with small and large with large. I haven't yet been successful with a small dog and large dog, as far as passing on genetics anyway.

I didn't know it's possible to breed a small dog with a big dog?
