I'm playing FEAR PM, I just installed a new card Nvidia 9800 GT with 1 GB memory, and 3 GB in the PC (BTW one of the memory sticks is also new, mention it in case it might have something to do with the problem). I started playing with everything on maximum and the game was really smooth (it was choppy with my old card X1650X ATI) and I was: very happy!

However, I notice that after a while I get lag. I tried lowering the graphics and it helped a bit but still I got it. Some parts of the game seem to be more problematic, like where there is a lot of blood or a lot of bricks, but it happens frequently, anywhere. Sometimes it smoothes out when I pass a certain part of the game, but somehow I don't seem to ever again get the perfect performance I saw when I first started the game after installing the new video card and that lasted a couple of hours perhaps.

The problem sometimes goes away if I close everything and reboot the computer. So I thought maybe the game is hogging memory and that is the problem, however when I check task manager the CPU reports all fine.

I found one other similar post elsewhere in these forums so maybe it is a known issue? Any help appreciated.

And this is online right? With those specs I can't ever imagine it being a hardware problem -- maybe you're just finding dodgy/laggy servers.
