New to the Game |

SO tell me stuff.
Well i started off online, and is there only one type of game mode? That defend/attack the gold crate box thing. And what goes on in that, i read the thing about it but still don't get it, so i just (tried) killed people not really understanding what i was meant to do. Offline seems pretty fun, but are the collectables the weapons you pick up? And what are dogtags? And tell me anything else i need to know. Thank you very much. Welcome to the forum and game Maestro. Battle field Bad Company has two online modes which one you noticed is gold rush, where when you attacking you're supposed to take their gold, while defending is stopping them from taking yours. The newest one that launched August 2008 is Conquest. It's a similar mode like Capture the flag, if you capture all the flags you basically win or extremely lower the mount of back up the other team has. Two ways of winning is that way or just keep killing the opposing teams people until they have no more backup left, almost like gold rush per se.
Dog tags doesn't do much but mini trophies when killing someone. You can get in game achievements with these iirc, but you may want to look on the official site for stats and such. You're going to need to have a EA user name and link your tag with your PSN to get the stats. Oh and some people have unique dog tags to collect, especially if you take one of the Dice staff ones. When you continue to knife them, you can check your dog tags and check how many unique ones you have, which will also trigger a PSN trophy to pop with a certain amount of unique tags. The collectibles are weapons you can find in multiplayer but may not appear in the offline mode. But, they do count towards a PSN trophy when you gain them. For instance, 1 bronze for 1 collectible, 1 silver for collecting half the collectible items, then 1 gold for collecting all of them. The same exact method applies to the gold found in the offline mode(1 bronze for 1 gold, 1 silver for half the gold and 1 gold for finding all the gold). The story mission is short depending how you play. I nearly went through all locations of each map during the offline mode and ending up with alot of hours, still short. But, if you haven't already notice, the dialog is top notch with comedy and lightheartedness. Something the game was going for in this. I also found some of the Russian speak pretty funny, despite not knowing what they mean. This game should be cheap come in the later months, but I'd definitely say it's worth a buy. 8.8-9.2/10 in my book. Also, the sequel which some sites is labeling the Release date for either December 31st, 2009 or March 2010. There's not confirmed release date, and only a projected one. The offline campaign mode in the second, hopefully, will be better than the first. Supposedly jungle areas and snowy fields to be in the next. The controls will be slightly tweaked to those of CoD, and the dialog, to my dismay based off a preview thread which you can view in the forum is going to be less comedy and lightheartedness according to EA. But, again, this is a preview and nothing is set in stone. So, check by the sequel forum for any details about that game. If you have any more questions pop by and ask, i'm sure someone will know if I don't. ------------------- Welcome to Crisis Core forum Welcome to Bad Company 2 God of War 3 official forum community

Thank you very much Final Blade, you have cleared up a lot of things. One more, the guns in online, do you unlock more as you level up and why do they change for different maps? (not sure how well i put that) ------------------- ![]() Natman4

You have to unlock the weapons as you rank up, all the weapons stay the same for each map. I can't totally remember how it works but usually when you rank up to the next level, you get an 'unlock credit' and you can use that to unlock whatever weapon you like. (it might be every 2 levels you rank up, cant remember)

Actually, the guns look do change with certain maps, I can't honestly answer why, since I'm not sure myself, but I do know they do based off experience. But, they end up working the same nonetheless.
As for the weapons, all the weapons can be unlocked when gaining credits on certain amount of points in the MP, but some weapons before required to have pre-ordered the game and be signed up to the newsletter or something. But, I think they gave out the codes for it online. There's one in particular I haven't got, which requires you to have 2 battlefield games registered and be apart of the veterans program. It's an assault rifle, and has alot of Rate of fire, but it isn't very accurate from what I heard. It looks cool, but isn't that effective, just another thing you could play with. But mostly all weapons are unlockable. You also gain PSN trophy's for reaching certain ranks in the MP. So, keep on killing til you reach General of Army(last rank) which unlocks the skill level, which you can find my thoughts on it on this page. ------------------- Welcome to Crisis Core forum Welcome to Bad Company 2 God of War 3 official forum community

The second mode was automatically online after an update if i remember correctly. There used to be just 1, the Gold Rush. And then Conquest got added. You should have it.
Well, i dont know what to advise you on things like that. Because i change my playing style all the time. I like to lurk in the bushes and use my sniper or even machine gun most of the time as i find this more enjoyable, but then sometimes i do like to close in on enemy territory with an assault rifle. ------------------- ![]() ~ Fit to Burn ~

I'm still a beginer aswell. I'm loving this game, even though it is old. On Conquest mode I average around 60 points where as on Gold Rush, in which I use the sniper quite alot I average around 30-40 points.
@ Swatchss, I use the sniper alot, and I also use assault and support is also good as you get points for healing you team mates... Plus you can heal your self, aswell as your team mates. ,Woofy
