Need Any Tips You Can Give |
|
Here's a quick low down, tomorrow one of my friends is going to be tossing me onto a LAN network with a few other people to play this game, and it turns out that a few of us don't know how to play the game, including me. I pick up Strategy games fast, but there's nothing like going in and knowing immediately some essential functions to the game.
Anyone mind tossing out some wisdom to share? I can probably survive without it, but it would help me play the game a bit. ------------------- People who claim others of hubris have a SCARY trend of having it themselves...

Well, it turns out I went into combat with no tips and I lasted fairly well online. I'm not going to be a commander in the game anytime soon, but I did manage several strikes and expanded my territory quite well in comparison to the older characters. Thankfully, I was allied with a friend of mine who had played tons, so I just had to hold my own for the most part.
The most important thing I learned? Just upgrade everything, as long as it's possible it's worth it. =D ------------------- People who claim others of hubris have a SCARY trend of having it themselves...

I managed to capture myself one relic luckily, during my first game fairly early on and got a second too, so it was fun. Also, it was four days apart, not much of a big deal razda. =P

What race were you?
If we're asking about Hints and Tips, I need help playing Campaign with the Imperial Guard. Usually I play a drawn out game, letting waves of them break upon my heavy weapon emplacements before breaking out with a Baneblade and 2 Leman Russes supported by Basilisks. By the time I reach that point, my resources are so huge I can afford to unleash a constant torrent of Earthshaker shells anywhere. It doesn't seem to work on Eldar. The term en masse was never so apt. I fended off about an hours worth of hordes before falling under two attacks at once. I tried again by rushing with my Honour Guard, but they all got slaughtered. Any tips? ------------------- Fear denies faith.

How is it taking you "hours" to get earth shaker rounds going?
Create a ton of guardsmen in the beginning. Use them to capture as many points as you can. Assign a worker to build a listening post on top of each one(if you don't already, shift click to que up actions). Use another builder to create a power grid. Then with the other builder, tech up. IG can have a disgusting amount of turrets, if you create another base, you get to use like 6 more! Use this to your advantage. Eldar are weak (yet they are my favorite
