Drifting

How the hell do you do it? I go into one of the drifting events and it's easy as hell to pull off. It practically does it for you. But, when I go to a canyon one or any other event, I can't do one at all. What gives? I'm hitting the E-brake and all.

re: Drifting

Unfortunately, drifting defies physics in this game. I got by fine with the old skool Charger. I never bothered with the E-Brake in any of the events. I found if you slow down before the turn and feather the gas through it, you should be good. I know it isn't relevant, but I thought EA had the perfect set up for the drift mode in NFS Underground 2.

re: Drifting

::UPDATE::

When playing through the Challenge Series, I found that the trick is to concentrate not so much on high speed drifts, but rather on keeping off the walls. On the Gold Canyon Drift Challenge, I scored either a 15X or 16X multiplier and basically beat it half way through the course. Of course, it took me a few days...

re: Drifting

The best way to drift is to get some speed, then hit the brake and turn.

re: Drifting

You have to practice. Use a Tuner car.
Three buttons you use R,A, and L.

-If you press L+R at the same time its easy to hold a slower drift longer and more accurately, but you get less points. Use it to avoid hitting the wall.

-Release R while drifting for a second and you lose speed and your drift is more controllable. Release for only a second, maybe repetitively.

-Using A will help you initiate the drift at the time you want, and can be used during a drift for enhanced control, with practice.

A combination of all this will help you obtain enhanced skills and do better, but PRACTICE is a big key word. Don't expect to master this in one night of playing. Don't use too much NOS, if any.

These tips are for Canyon DRIFT races and regular DRIFT races.

For Canyon Duels, use the handbrake alot, but don't be afraid to go balls-to-the-wall on those dangerious corners. Tuner cars are great, and a Tier 2 car works fine, because there are relatively few straitaways.

Hope I helped.

re: Drifting

i leave my evo in third gear all the time when drifting. i let off the gas when entering the turn, and if i slow down too much and drift toward the inside, i just hit the gas and the car acclerates and goes towards the outside.

re: Drifting

im on 74% tuner career and i found drifting hard first but just watch the nfs carbon drifting videos and u will probably start feelin it

P.S. iif u want to get to x20 multipier on canyon drift just slide across the corners and try to connect the drifts and keep up near a wall

hope it helps
