Relation to FFXII |
|
Many people have been wondering what is this games relation to Final Fantasy XII and will it be a Prequel, a Sequel or what.
Well Yokoyama has removed all doubt: ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- "The reason we chose the DS was that we had many opportunities to see up close people playing it," Toriyama explained. "We planned to target the game at people who haven't touched games until now. The concept we developed was that of making an 'entry level FF' title." As a result the game will apparently feature revised gameplay. "We removed anything that would look complicated [to a new player], and built the battle system with an eye towards users who were playing the game for the first time." Although inheriting the FFXII title, Yokoyama downplayed its link to its PS2 predecessor. "It is not accurate to call this a sequel. We want people to view it as the latest FF game. This is not FFXII-2." This is not the first time the company has made an "entry-level" Final Fantasy game. In 1992 it published Final Fantasy Mystic Quest for the Super Nintendo, a simpler, less complex spin-off of the series. [ SOURCE ] ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- It seems that they have tried to make this game seperate from FFXII, now wether the story has to do with the Dalmascan Empire or one of the other empires only time will tell. ------------------- ![]()

re: Relation to FFXII |

They do look younger but it may just be because the DS isn't capable of showing the incredible graphics from the PS2 version + the long gameplay that we have come to know and love from Final Fatnasy games.

Believe me when I say don't trust Wiki, at this point all fans are just getting any old rumours that they hear and putting it on Wiki and most of it wont turn out to be true. For example this game does NOT have Ashe. Go to the official site you will see that only two of the 6 characters are known the other 4 look completely new (from their outlines)

re: Relation to FFXII |

I believe that this game will return the normal turn-based battle system and get rid of the Gambit system (which to me is nothing more than a drawback to it being on the DS).

re: Relation to FFXII |

I personally prefer FFXII's battlesystem, so much easier and it also means that we don't have to press attack again and again and again as you do in other games.
I personally hate *gasps* the DS, my cousin had it and it didn't really interest me, I preferred the PSP myself so I very much doubt I'll be getting this game, but I'd still like to know all the details on this game so I know what I'm missing out on. ------------------- ![]()
