As most of you have noticed, I have slipped into Jake's spot while he takes on a smaller role. The reason I agreed to the position was to help shake things up and inject the forum with a bit of adrenaline. I know these words are already becoming lost on most of you, as they are said almost annually. However, the reason I came back was to be active myself and when I found out the forum was getting a bit stale, I felt obligated to do something about it.

I know that most of us are adults now, still in school and have more responsibilities in general; meaning we can't spend every waking moment on the internet trying to contribute to the community. This is why I want to take a more casual approach and make it easier to participate in organized events, as well as implement a few ideas that will make participating more fun and make the forums look more active.

We're going to advertise and get the Album Art contest up and running soon, maybe even this weekend. We'll set the due date as TBA and see how quickly entries get submitted before setting the date. If this is successful I'd like to start a 5x7 poster competition that is done every week or two, and have the winning entry featured in the sticky in Digital Portfolios and possibly elsewhere. I'd like to just have some fun with the themes for the posters so that multiple ranges of members can join in.

Also, as artists we kind of have ADD and get bored with things quickly, so I would like to encourage everyone to submit new forum headers whenever they feel like they've had enough of the previous one(s). If it's well liked, we'll throw it up. I suppose we could always hold a header contest if no one is willing to submit headers this way, but I know that the last contest was lackluster and got saved by The Dave.

Agreed, it's great to have new and exciting projects but with the current events lacking in activity it's not really smart to just throw new events in there with hopes of it booming. Hopefully the Graphics Collage thread will be back because I always thought it brought some interesting results.

That would be a pretty sick reward, I know I'd definitely participate more if it involved something like that. Sounds like a kick ass idea there, Moon.
