I've used it a few times, and its best in conjunction with a team attack. I built two scarabs and sent them in at the same time as my 2 team mates army. They concentrated their fire power on the enemy forces to protect me, while I took out bases. It was pretty effective because they kept all the enemy forces off my scarabs so they wouldnt die.
