How dead?

Wow. I honestly thought there would be a lot more activity on here as RPG game usually generate a lot of questions and comments.

What gives? did nobody else get this game?

re: How dead?

I was thinking the exact same thing, I just started playing the game, at first it didn't grab me, but now it seems to be a decent game. I haven't dug in to deep., but so far I'm liking it

re: How dead?

I'm coming up to the end of chapter 2 and I've been playing for a good 12 - 15 hours I would have thought!

A lot of game for the money

re: How dead?

Unfortunately, my computer can't run it, so for the time being I'm just going to have to sit here and pout. If you have any FAQs or resources you want to make, that's usually the best way to attract posters to a forum.

re: How dead?

I got the game Nov. 28 and after getting stuck for a bit in the Salamander hideout, I'm now enjoying getting to know Vizima in Chapter Two.

Wonderful game, imo. I love the 'choose-your-own-adventure' style of play, and the new view takes some getting used to, but is worth it (though you have to know your keyboard or hit Pause to click on anything on your player screen).

I'm very happy with my purchase.

re: How dead?

The Sys Req kill a lot of players like probably most of PC Gamers, so thats a major factor. I would get it but my pc specs isn't close to the requirements. Looked really good though. The Witcher was never really advertised either.

re: How dead?

Shame it was never as hyped up as the other games. But then again, hype's like a double-edged sword, more people will know of the game but they'll be those damn fanboys. Thankfully, I don't think The Witcher has many, if any, of those twats.

A fine fine game, one of the best RPGs to come out in recent years (IMO, the best since Planescape: Torment and KOTOR). And its CD Projeckt's FIRST title. Too bad it will never get the mass recognition it deserves.

re: How dead?

well it got a 90% in a PC Lamer review, so that might
create some interest in the States.

It is amazing that there haven't been more comments.

I'll add that it's different from 'regular' RPGs in that
the generic NPCs sometimes have useful information for you.
Stuff that can put an entry in your journal and possibly save you from having to buy a book. But you don't know unless you talk to them, thus giving you a reason to talk
to everyone.

Also while the game centers around swordplay, it's quite possible to use other weapons like a big ol' hammer!
No bows for you though while some enemies have them.

There's supposed to be a patch 'by the end of the year' that will hopefully fix the looong loading times. That would make the game lots more enjoyable.

Like Randomn User sez, for a first effort by CD Projekt..
this game is astounding and I for one will interested in whatever they come up with next.

re: How dead?

im seriously surprised at the lack of activity in this forum. the game is great so far. havent played too much as ive had some work to do, but the game is really engaging and definately one the of best RPGs ive played.

i guess its cursed by the fact that it came out at the same time as alot of more high-profile games, e.g. orange box, crysis, gears of war, UT3. its a shame cos its a really solid game and deserves more attention.

The patch is out by the way, and I've tried it, it cuts loading times to already-visited areas by half, which is great. I would back up your saves before installing it though, I've read about people losing saves after updating.
