Charecter creation is only a tad better then WoW, can't even compare to EQ2, but noone really notices those differences anyway cept for hair and skin color. I think the PQs are just great. It feels like a pretty balanced WoW+EQ2 (after pvp was added). The Warhammer concept is great, glad they made an MMO of it. Scenarios could use more people, like 60v60, but I can see why it does'nt exist (lag issues

Well aren't there city raids in the last tiers? I imagine those would have more than 60 players each.

The city raids are massive in scale. Absolutely massive. They're even more hectic than you see in the opening video. You seriously just have to try to survive first, and hope that your guild has excellent coordination.
The Tier 2 keep battles that are going on right now are a lot of fun, because the server I'm on doesn't have scenarios popping a lot. Last night, a huge guild took about 100 of their guys and just zerged all the keeps. What a sight to see. Today it hasn't been like that, it's been on a lot smaller of scale, but still fun. ------------------- ![]()

re: Your First Impressions |

I've only been playing a little over a day now. Here are my impressions so far:
1) Characters of the same class pretty much look the same at the start, even with the initial customizations, but I see it's the equipment that sets them apart. Then again, I've only created a High Elf character. I did look into how customizations for Empire and Dwarf characters look, and I think they have it much better. It doesn't look like as much work was done with the High Elf Design. 2) The user interface is simple enough, and I am getting used it. Still, if anyone can share better looking customizations for it, that would be great. 3) I enjoy the character animations. I like the looks of the movement that characters perform during a non-rush combat situation (ie. a one on one pve combat). They are pleasant to see. 4) Scenarios and Public Quests are outstanding. So far, these are the two elements that draw me in the most. I find it hard to get a party with people who are doing the same npc quests as I am, but when it comes to public quests people do seem more willing to work together, thus the complexity of Public Quests become more fun. It's also great to be able to gain experience in Scenarios. It makes them just that more fun to do. So far, I've only participated in one scenario and the only thing I have to say I dislike it that the parties. The ones I have been a part of never seem able to coordinate together. They don't even talk to each other. I suppose it would help to have a party beforehand. ------------------- ![]() I'm a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside a bitch / Formerly Shadow of Rei

Great!!!
A week ago I skipped Age of Conan ready to try this game out. AoC walking, walking, walking.... boring... Startup: Why one character for one server? Is it that hard to have some sort of profile then logging into the server of your choice? AoC does the same lame thing. Once u have chosen, you're stuck to your choice of server. Sucks! One night I waited 18 minutes in que before I was able to login. Thankfully I'm also a FPS player killing noobs in CoD4 meanwhile :-) But that is not going to happen often!!! People don't want to wait 18 minutes before playing... Character creation: Two mains; Black Orc (Killagrunk - watch out!!!) and a Darkelf Ranger/melee (Phae - watch your back). Simple and very easy. My orc just look so cool... Game startup: Could not find out how to use my mini map. Quickly many quests that made everything on the map red. Found out later and now I think it works just fine. I love the action system, which basically is the same as stamina, but more quickly regains than other games. Nice! Also love the orc "Da gud plan" and "Da best plan". Took me a while to find out, but now I love it (I'm not used to reading any manuals nor playing tutorials - learning by killing... sometimes by being killed...). Much easier to play and fight than AoC. I did like the combo system of AoC, but it was much more difficult to use and worst of all; it favours people with macro keyboards. Not all have that! And too many instant kills in AoC. Much more balanced here! Graphics: OK - compared to AoC this game lacks a lot. I'm having a supercomputer ++ so I REALLY do see the difference here. My character in AoC standing there warming up - so fu... awesome. When swinging his weapons even more awesome. My characters in WAR walking around with no real body movement / soul. But hey, all of u having noob computers Public quests: Now rank 9 and rank 13 with my chars (rank 10 renown with my Killagrunk orc). Awesome!!! Public quest are sooooo cool. So simple but so fun and so well balanced. I will never ever forget my darkelf encountering that big fat Hydra (stage III somewhere in the start). I was so crushed that I was swept backward in my chair. I was so excited! Scenarios: I love Battlefield II - though not playing that often anymore. And this is Battlefield II, just running around with my rpg character capturing flags etc. That is so cool. Why has none ever thought of this? (or did they?) At first I thought it was one big mess - I was killed easily etc. Especially my Darkelf skirmisher seems weak compared to my black orc. Now I roam stage II (level 11-21) scenarios and I do fine damage and do get some kills here and there, even most opponents are level 16-21. I like the way u get boosted in HP's if your level is low. Perhaps not a good idea to have all the good items at the renown traders become available only if your renown level is high. All standard equipment sucks so one MUST fight scenarios or fight in the RVR areas. Standard RPG players that don't want to do pvp might get scared away 'cause they never ever get to buy any decent equipment. Fun: Yes - this game is indeed fun! Try to enter a RVR area where your level is too high and don't return. I woun't tell ya, but it's fun!! I'm still laughing. Not to mention the squigh herder whose Troll I killed. That bastard... started crying Bad things: Well - not that many, but I still haven't found out how to get out of a team? Should't be that hard. And why do I have to travel to a major chaos city in order to find the auctionarius? Perhaps I missed something, but I was level 13 with my orc before I, by incident, found it. Creating talismans; Took me a looong time before I found my first fragment. The talisman trainer should be closer to the place you start finding fragments. Fragment = piece, but piece of what? I tried almost everything in my inventory and was sure I was doing something wrong. But hey, then I found my first fragment and nicely crafted my first talisman. Bottom line: I shouldn't be sitting here writing my fingers off. I should be joining a scenario Da waaghing all the way to the top with my Killagrunk. 'Cause this game is so awesome. In doubt? Go buy it now!!! Da waaaaaaaggghhhhhh

the recent WoW patch has 1 uped this already.. apart from open rvr which kinda sucks since you have to find a group or guild to run with or you will just get overwhelmed, public quests are kinda fun but get boring as you just grind them to get rewards at the end, couldnt even make it through the first free month, got bored stopped playing, dought I will start again, and most of the combat moves just look like a multi coloured streak down the screen on some blurry effect on the ground. It looks like the programmers have taken off there bad hawaiian shirts cut them up a little, scanned them and used it as an attack move for the chosen and blackrock orc and the heretic, cant say anything about the others because I didnt play them.
p.s mages on surfboards!?! wtf is that

overall I was quite disapointed after watching all the trailers and game development films I got quite into it but after p,aying the game at a friends for a while i quickly got bored with the game and some of the many broken pieces of maps. My character around some massive combat areas seemed to fall through the ground before respawning a few meters from where I was originally standing.
